I always like Ghost Rider’s bike.
Snowskimmer…Jonny Quest
Dustcruiser…A.C. Clarke’s “A Fall of Moondust”
Max Max’s V-8 interceptor.
The Black Pearl.
:smack:
Miller wins.
It’s not entirely fictional. It was a Wallis WA-116 autogyro. Its performance and portability was of course exaggerated.
I have two:
The badass car that rebuilds itself that Charlie Sheen’s character drives in Wraith
The time travelling train from Back to the Future III.
The pirates’ dragonfly ships from Laputa, KITT, the motorcycle from Kino no Tabi, hell, any motor vehical that talks is cool.
I also liked the mobile Chinese restaurant from The Fifth Element.
And folks, the Batmobile is the coolest car ever. 'Nuff said.
A Madcat from Mechwarrior has always been my dream commuting vehicle. 75 tons of walking death and destruction that can travel over uneven terrain at 40 kph, over smooth terrain at 80kph. A set of heavy machine guns firing depleted uranium slugs for the small stuff, an autocannon and a couple of heavy lasers for the big stuff, and a set of heat-seeking missiles for everything else.
For all others, the right of way will be transformed into the right to get out of my way.
Konida’s motorcycle in Akira
Jet Moto Bikes from the game
The haunted 1958 Plymouth Fury from “Christine”… looks cool, goes fast, repairs its own damage…
…and when people mess with you, your car goes out and KILLS them for you!! Who wouldn’t love that?
I was always rather fond of the poor abused hemi-cuda in the Phantasm flicks.
(Not really a fictional vehicle, unless you accept that it was the same car in all four movies, which someone kept rebuilding/repairing inbetween battles with the Tall Man.)
Another vote for the time-travellin’ DeLorean. Not only is it a fuel-efficient time machine, it’s a DeLorean!
Runner-up vote: The motorcycle that turns into a jet plane from M.A.S.K.
I would also vote for any of the Veritech/Valkyrie fighters from Macross, but for the fact that they are definitely spaceworthy…but then, so are my next choice, the Dragons of Pern.
I always liked the design of the tanks in TRON.
I’d also enjoy traveling on a “Banpei-kun RX” from Oh My Goddess!, but I’d have to scale him up a bit.
The TARDIS probably counts as a spacecraft … but Bessie doesn’t.
And never mind Thunderbirds, what about Captain Scarlet? I’d go for an SPV any day … the Angel interceptors could match Sky One for performance and looked much more graceful … come to think of it, Spectrum’s Cloudbase could move, when the plot required it; now there’s something to take the kids to school in …
I’d have to go with the SW speeder bikes, the TRON light-cycle, the Akira cycle, and the motorcycle from the FF7 video game.
Oh, and those nifty sky sleds from He-man.
i just want the hoverboard from Back to the Future, vehicle or no…
A lot of people “just want[ed] the hoverboard from Back to the Future”…
I’ve read a number of places that after B to the F opened, Mattel was swamped with phone calls. Yep, rubes wanting to buy a hoverboard. “Those don’t exist, ma’m.” “They do too! Saw it in a movie. And it even had a big ol’ Mattel logo on it! So why won’t you sell me one?”
That was almost 20 years ago. Surely they have the hoverboards by now.
Ever seen the Motoslave transforming bikes/battledrones/power suit enhancers from Bubblegum Crisis ?
Or the bike/battlesuits from Robotech Masters?
