Favorite fruit soda

Grapefruit, for the most part. I love Fresca and Squirt/Diet Squirt, and wish I could find the added-flavor variants (Fresca has a couple, including a sublime peach/grapefruit blend, and Ruby Red Squirt). Not a big fan of store-brand grapefruit sodas, though.

Second are the Mexican apple sodas like Manzanita Sol and Sidral Mundet. Sidral does both the normal apple version and a green apple version that tastes like a carbonated Granny Smith. Always thought Apple Slice tasted a bit like alcohol, and don’t like Jones Soda’s green apple flavor.

Sidral is available in the States if you can find a Mexican Grocery. To me it doesn’t taste much like apple, just very sweet, but hey to each his own.

Does it have to be carbonated? I have to confess a soft spot for Snapple Apple. It tastes only vaguely like apple but It’s really good.

Another vote for Fresca here. Mmm… grapefruit!

I have always liked Schwepps Bitter Lemon but am having trouble finding it recently. It is a mixture of lemon with quinine. Definitely for people who are not into too sweet.

Really good watermelon, when I can find it. Tends to be a small bottler specialty.

Good strawberry is a little easier to find.

My daily tipple is diet cherry 7-up but it doesn’t really taste like a fruit soda. More like a slightly sweet light beer, which is why I like it.

Used to love a Schweppes bitter lime even they made it.

There are some nice flavors in the vietnamese store near my work. From all the different continents (except Ant). Some fruits I had never eben heard of. Some are kind of nasty…

No Dr Pepper on the list? It’s marketed as a fruit-flavoured soda. Or at least, every can I’ve seen in Europe has the text “CARBONATED FRUIT FLAVOUR SOFT DRINK” (or the local equivalent) on it. (Here’s the back of a UK can of Dr Pepper which has been exported to Israel.)

Dr. Pepper would be my second favorite after Fresca. I drink it a lot more often because it’s more available than Fresca.

I have always wondered why the mainstream U.S. market doesn’t have certain flavors. We have lemon-lime, but no lemon or lime sodas. I think a lemon OR lime soda could be great, done correctly. A good straight sour cherry would be good, too. Black raspberry (NOT red raspberry!!) would be heavenly if done right.

Thought of more- Winn-Dixie’s Chek house brand has a good green apple soda and a good black cherry. Kroger’s Big K peach soda is the best peach I’ve found.

San Pelligrino Lemon

I don’t always (hardly ever) drink fruit soda, but when I do, I drink Strawberry Crush on ice on a hot summer day. Stay thirsty, my friends!

I like this one and the Blood Orange soda they do, as well. I’ve found that I tend to like European fruit sodas way more than the American ones - for instance, the Orange Fanta in Europe tastes way more like actual oranges than here in the US.

Villa Italia grapefruit soda. Trader Joe’s sells it. Yum.

Black cherry … the absolute best! :o

There’s also Puerto Rico-based Coco Rico, all they do is coconut soda.

Really wish I could find diet coconut soda but maybe that wouldn’t be as good.

Lime and peach

Isn’t Crush available in all three flavors (as well as Orange)? I’m also familiar with Fanta Grape and Strawberry.

That’s because Slice contained some fruit juice - even in diet (which was something like 10 calories per 8 ounces rather than “zero”).

Anybody else remember Shasta soft drinks? They made an apple soda that had a decent apple taste. (They also made a diet apple soda that tasted nothing like an apple, but that’s another story.) Apparently, they still exist, but in not quite as many flavors; in some cases, this is a good thing (anyone who tried their diet chocolate soda probably agrees with me).

Black cherry. It makes yummy floats, too! Unfortunately, I can’t find a diet version in my local grocery stores, so I do without. Alas…

In order:
Strawberry soda. Strawberry Crush is so good it’s the only soda I’ll swirl in my mouth just to get the aftertase.
Pineapple, preferrably Fanta but Big Pineapple (tho pretty sweet) will do.
Cherry Limeade (Frosty’s if you can find it).
Orange, though it tends to be too sweet.
Grape–this a flavor nobody gets right. Every maker of it tastes more like Kool-Aid then any grape I’ve tasted.
When they were available, Pomegranite 7-Up and whatever flavor Green River was were instant buys.
