Favorite glasses - a beverage-ish MMP

Mon or Tues, we’re having 4 trees removed, including having the stumps ground deep. Yay! Two of them are not very attractive and always in the what when I mow, one is very close to where we park the truck, and I’m surprised it hasn’t been hit yet. The last one is not particularly attractive, and I fear it may fall on the garage in a bad wind. We also asked about having a buttload of dead or dying pines removed, but it’s pushing the budget a bit right now, so we’ll revisit that in the fall.

Thus beginneth yard rehab.

Was that really necessary?
Sweetie forced me to get out of bed at 1:30 because, “I refuse to leave for work at 1:30 with you still asleep”.
Oh well, I suppose I’ll go make some lanyards.

Today has been a nice slow day. I took the puppy to the park for the first time in a week. Kept her fetching for nearly 45 minutes. Now she’s staring at me mournfully, as I cruelly ate the last chocolate chip cookie in front of her.

We are drawing family together to come to a consensus about Dad. Mom didn’t tell me until this morning that his official diagnosis is Alzheimer’s, as opposed to vascular dementia. It really doesn’t matter one way or another, except that there is far more support for the former than the latter. Mom is looking at getting power of attorney for Dad sooner rather than later, at creating an advanced directive for him (he’s avoided it up until now), and then making the decisions from there. She just went through her sister dying of advanced Alzheimer’s, kidney failure, and diabetes only a couple of months ago. There were a lot of problems with medical decisions at the end of my aunt’s life. She really wants to avoid that with Dad.

One thing I’ve noticed even in just the last few days is that Dad isn’t trying to cover up his memory loss nearly as much. Okay, so he’s asking me the same question three times in an hour, but that’s okay. In fact, it’s a huge improvement. I don’t have to plan around him and pretend I’m not. He isn’t snarking at me when I remind him of something.

And yes, it’s a journey. We’re going from one point to another.

Ooooh, I like this theory.

So sorry about the stress with your dad, Kanga. Hang in there.

Spent most of the morning with friends making [del]mud pies[/del] hypertufa containers. It was fun! Also had a yummy yummy lunch.

Now relaxing at home, deciding what to do next.

Hugs all.

Well I was an idiot yesterday. The party is tonight. I showed up yesterday and surprised the heck out of the hosts. But they’re incredibly sweet people and we ended up chatting for an hour. It was just as well because Mom and I went to a garage sale at a ridiculous hour because the Craigslist ad made it sound awesome. It wasn’t.

The next one was a lot better - I got a dress form for $10. I’ve been wanting one for a couple of years to display a kimono on. Then we went antiquing and I got a great wood office chair and a corner bookcase that I’m 85% sure is Heywood-Wakefield. It’s got no label, but it looks the style. It needs to be refinished. Actually it looks like somebody got half-started and gave up. I’ll need to get the proper varnish (or possibly send it someone). But it ended up not fitting in my car and we had to call my Dad to bring the truck up! We ended up waiting two hours before he got there and had lunch at 3:00. We did a little more shopping.

Mom and Dad are running out as I type this because my dad forgot to pass on the message that my grandparents were down and to go over to my uncle’s for dinner.

I got my hair cut really short on Friday. (It looks like Emma Watson’s new haircut). I’ll be posting pictures to my Facebook later and link them. I spiked it into a faux hawk for the party (which, again, isn’t until tonight). I’m too lazy to do it again tonight, since I just took a shower. I’ll be heading out in an hour after I have a snack and take my pills.

Edit: I just checked the Heywood-Wakefield site (they still make repros of the old stuff) and now I’m 99% sure! They sell a repro for $1000. I got mine for $100! (except it needs work)

I didn’t know my mother had Alzheimer’s until I read her obituary.

I had to work, so I did not get to go to Charlotte to see the hockey game. :frowning: I did end up working the UNC-TV telethon. There was a steampunk group and a Star Trek group volunteering, so the hockey Booster Club people looked normal for once.

What a night!! I kept waking up and I was having a stupid, yet terrifying, dream, and now I’m up but exhausted! And in my dream, I never did get to the airport…

I changed most of the clocks last night, so at least I’ve got that going for me. **FCD **is still in bed - he stayed up later than I did, and I heard him get up at least once during the night. We may both spend the day in zombie mode.

Oh well - the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and it’s supposed to be a pretty day - Happy Sunday!

Oh, if only I had TV right now. I would have donated good money to see that.

I woke up at what my body clock said was 6:45, but of course the cable box, computer and other clocks said was 7:45. I feel ripped off every year at this time at having “lost” an hour in the morning.

No big plans for today. Laundry, etc. I already have the dishwasher running.

It’s wet, gray and darkish outside, so I won’t be doing anything in the yard.

The cold has not loosened it’s grip on me or my husband. My husband has had it for well over a week.

I always feel ripped off as well, Taters.

We went to a yummy BBQ truck for lunch and then to a park because it’s a beatiful day today. Brother and nephew threw a football around for a while and I took a walk in the meantime.

I ran some errands and am now watching basketball and considering what else I need to do before going to friend’s for dinner.

Hope everyone’s having a nice day.

Anyone interested in getting us started tomorrow?

Hugs all.

I was quite productive yesterday. I made 14 lanyards, ham salad, and a turkey. Then I made turkey stock.
Today I woke up at 12:45 but the damn clock insisted that it was 1:45. That annoys me. I don’t feel like I lost time but I do feel like I slept too long and wasted my day.
I dropped the lanyards off at the training center and picked up my money from the ones that sold ($35!!! :D). I also got to see two adorable dogs running the agility course. One was a 6 year old teeny dachshund. She was so small that she looked like a puppy. The other dog was so excited about everything, jumping and prancing all the way through the course.
I celebrated my sales by getting a shamrock shake on the way home.

Howdy Y’all! I’m baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!! Miss me?

Acutally I’ve b een back for about three hours but have been unpackin, doin’ laundry, and a little tidyin’ up of da cave. Now I’s tahrd and commencin’ to be hongry. I think I’ll call OYKW and see if’n he wants to go grab sump’n to eat. He’s at his place doin’ laundry and such as well.

{{{kanga}}} here’s hopin’ your dad does learn to adjust to this and good for your mom for wantin’ to take charge of stuff.

Everybody else, yays, boos, hugs, noogies, wedgies, trouts, chitlins, how you doin’s as needed.

I’ve been putzing about here and there. I “dry-cleaned” my wool coat with one of those dry clean dryer thingies, and am working on my fourth load of laundry. I also went through a bunch of crap in the laundry room and just about have that completely mucked out. I folded and put away a bunch of clothes as well.

In addition, I cleaned the kitchen and scrubbed the powder room. The other stuff I accomplished was just random picking up here and there.

My son had one of his buddies come over and they’re at the mall; my son to get his watch fixed and his buddy to do some shopping.

When they come home we’ll feed them some lasagna and then they’ll play League of Legends. I plan to settle down with my Kindle fairly soon.

PapaJohn will be making supper - I’m about to head out and fetch it.

Lazy Sunday - yay!

OYKW and I went and grabbed some dindin at Logan’s Roadhouse. ‘Twas nuttin’ special but not too bad either. Ok enough place to go sit down and grab a burger. Thus endeth today’s excitement.

Lazy day today with mr ems kiddos. Everyone got up late then I made a huge breakfast with bacon and eggs and scratch made biscuits and hashbrowns and gravy. Yum-my!

Then pedicures for the girls and the boys went to get fishing permits then we all took naps and I made blueberry muffins and we went out for dinner to Toby Keith’s Bar and Grill as they requested and now everyone is back in jammies and just watching the TV. Good day today.

School day tomorrow for me. Booooooo.

We’re not supposed to change the clocks until the 25th, but my body already thinks it’s About Bloody Time to do it.

Apparently it’s ok to come in to work late and stay late, but if you’re going to come in early and you’re a subcontractor, your boss should’a let Security know. Oopsies.

Brand spankin’ new and shiny MMP over heah!
