Now this is for folks who actually have some collection of CD’s.
It stands to reason that if you like a particular performer, he/she/they will make up a part of the CD’s that you own.
Who is your favorite group that you like but haven’t taken the extra step and bought one of their albums? (Not the most eloquently worded question but you get the idea.)
Let’s see, I’ll go by decade.
From the 60’s, I like the Beach Boys enough that I could see myself actually plunking down some cash to get one of their discs, Pet Sounds comes to mind, but haven’t.
From the 70’s: If there is a Supertramp Greatest Hits collection, I should get it and maybe one day might.
From the 80’s: Talking Heads should be represented.
From the 90’s: (Did they make good music in the 90’s?) My first purchase would probably be something by Nirvana.
I don’t own London Calling, by the Clash - I don’t know what’s wrong with me. It is in my Amazon shopping cart this time around (I went through after the Rolling Stone 500 albums issue and loaded up my cart) but I have not pulled the trigger yet.
I don’t own Appetite for Destruction - and while GnR aren’t a favorite group, that is a favorite CD and I should own it.
I once owned four vinyl albums by Jimi Hendrix. For some reason, I have not yet replaced any of them on compact disc. I also have no David Bowie or Funkadelic on CD, and until about a month ago, no Pretenders. It isn’t for lack of music purchasing; my wife and I own a total of 584 CDs. It just seems that when I’m in the record store with intent to buy, I seek out new things and don’t think to look for older stuff.
Porcupine Tree and Radiohead come to mind, I’m just trying to figure out which album cause I really really like many of their songs, just like some others really really SUCK, and I haven’t gotten the names straight. Three doors down and Tool are others I gotta get one day.
Sant, if you are a member of this here forum, please be kind enuff to place Tool’s lateralus under my tree.
David Byrne/The Talking Heads. Even though they occupy a spot in my top three favorite artists of all time, for some odd, inexplicable reason, I own NONE of their albums, despite the relative ease with which I could rectify that situation.
Kid Koala. I’ve seen him live twice and I both times I left saying “That’s the next album I’m buying.” Argh, maybe I’ll pick up next time I go to the mall. I’ll probably forget though.
