Edy’s Twix ice cream.
Vanilla with chocolate and carmel swirls and just the right amount of crunchy cookie.
This stuff Rocks!

Haagen Dazs just came out with this new line of dessert flavors, so on a whim I bought a pint of their Bananas Foster flavor.
Oh.
My.
God.
It was instant addiction. I took my first few bites on a Sunday morning, and by 3:00 that day the whole thing was gone. I could hear its siren call from the freezer all day. I couldn’t stop. It’s like eating cold, creamy bananas foster. And that is such an indescribably good thing. So yeah, I’m addicted, and I’ll probably turn into a size 800 because of it, but I won’t even mind. It’s that good.
I haven’t seen any Turkey Hill around here but I have had this in other brands. Columbo also had a frozen yogurt version.
I liked Ben & Jerry’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough too but they’ve discontinued that one.
rockle - right on. I’m gonna echo your post - same companies, different flavors, sicne I’m from SE PA myself originally.
Oh yes, oh yes, Turkey Hill does have some foine ice cream. My favorite is their Tin Roof Sundae. Vanilla ice cream with fudge swirls and chocolate covered salted peanuts. It’s got that whole sweet/salty thing going on. Delicious.
Also - the Penn State Creamery - the bad thing is that their ice cream is the ice cream in ALL of the dining halls. I’ve heard that the ice cream isn’t able to be sold commercially because the butterfat content is too high. Sucks for the waistline, but oh so very nice for the tastebuds.
I remember a Creamery ice cream that would come out only during the holidays - Pumpkin Pie - pumpkin flavored ice cream with chunks of pie crust in it. SO GOOD. A close second would be their Cappucino Chip - coffee flavored ice cream with fudge ripples and chocolate covered espresso beans.
Actually, now that I think about it, those two are tied. I haven’t had ice cream in so long - I don’t even buy it anymore becuase it is my absolute weakness food. I’ll eat it until the container is gone. Seriously.
Godiva’s Belgian Chocolate. I bought it once, over a year ago, and decided that it was soooo good that I could never buy it again, since it’s all gone very quickly. It’s incredibly rich, bittersweet chocolate - less sweet and much more complex than the usual chocolate ice creams, and much, much chocolatier.
Thrifty ice cream sold at RiteAid.
The best for least amount of money!
Well, before I gave up refined sugar, my all time fave was Godiva’s Dark Chocolate. I treated myself to it during my last pregnancy. Amazingly, it was so rich that a pint actually lasted me three nights!!
Now, it’s a toss-up between Edy’s No-Sugar-Added Triple Chocolate and Turkey Hill NSA Dutch Chocolate. In order to get my peanut butter fix (cuz I used to be able to eat an entire half gallon of Turkey Hill Peanut Butter Swirl in two days), I melt some peanut butter and pour it on top of a dish of one of these ice creams. But I do wish there were a wider flavor selection of NSA ice creams!
Häagen-Dazs German Chocolate Cake. Unfortunately, it seems to be only sporadically available as one of their specialty flavors–at least at my local grocery store.
Ben & Jerry used to have a great Almond Joy flavor: coconut ice cream with almonds and chocolate chunks. I’ve gotta find me some of that From Russia With Buzz–that sounds great.
I’ve also always loved vanilla mixed with sherbet (remember Hopscotch?). I think it was Häagen-Dazs who used to have one that was lime sorbet swirled in rich vanilla. Oh, man, that was good.
My favorite is Angel Food Homemade Vanilla. It tastes just like the kind my grandmother made.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed hoping I’ll find some good Splenda sweetened ice creams and soon.
Ben & Jerry’s any flavor. From Russia with Buzz is fantastic.
Eddy’s recently came ou with Apple Cinnamon Sorbet. I am an Apple Cinnamon nut, and it is good.
I wouldn’t hold my breath. The no-sugar-added ice creams I eat are almost invariably sweetened with sugar alcohol. The reason for this is simple economics. The ice cream companies can’t really get away with charging more for their no-sugar-added versions. Sugar alcohol is more expensive that sugar and corn sweeteners (I’ve noticed Edy’s compensates by making their no-sugar-added varieties a little smaller), but Splenda would be much more expensive than sugar alcohol, further eating into the company’s profits.
D’ya mind if I ask why you don’t eat the sugar-alcohol sweetened ones? I find them pretty tasty.
Pierre’s: mud pie; peppermint stick; dulce de leche; moose tracks
Blue Bell: Oreo cookie
Starbucks: mud pie
Breyer’s: chocolate
Hey, here’s the new thing around Cleveland: all the ice creams are in a container that gets a little narrower at the bottom, therefore it is less ice cream. Same price, or higher. Here is a sample of what the ad said on the door of the freezer: New size to fit conveniently in your freezer! New flavors (a lie)!
They didn’t mention you are getting LESS ice cream for MORE money. I think this is because all groceries are skyrocketing in price.
Paging Sauron… Paging Sauron…
Hell yes I will second that. I used to have one near my old house, 75 cents for a triple scopp cone! Damn good ice cream too.
My favorite ice cream is Breyer’s Rainbow Sherbert. So simple yet so delicious. yum yum. Cookies and cream is good too, but who DOESN’T like cookies and creem. hmmmmm?
That sounds so good I am drooling over here. Never heard of eddy’s, are they east coast only brand?

Actually, it’s Edy’s, and I think they may be mainly on the east coast and midwest. And yes, they have fabulous ice cream. Their special edition flavors are always to die for. My personal favorite special editions: the pumpkin one they have in the fall, and their Girl Scout Cookie flavors, especially the Samoa.
See if you have Dreyer’s, they’re the same company.
Although I don’t like Starbuck’s coffee, their coffee ice cream is yummy, most especially Mud Pie (coffee ice cream with swirls of chocolate and bits of oreos). Dreyer’s used to make a Dutch Chocolate that was heavenly–darker and more cocoa flavored. Godivia’s Belgium Chocolate is fantastic, and I’m gonna hafta get me some of the From Russia with Buzz–it sounds worth gaining weight for!
Have you had their Chocolate Rainbow? Five different varieties of chocolate in a rainbow of subtle flavor differences. Mmmmm.
Unfortunately I seem to have different tastes from most people, as my favorite Ben and Jerry’s flavors have gone to that Great Flavor Graveyard, including Bovinity Divinity, Pulp Addiction (orange chocolate liquour) and Kaberry Kaboom (strawberry and blueberry swirled ice cream with white fudge covered pop rocks).
