I always liked Marcie, myself. I identified with her being the best friend to Patty and yet mostly overlooked. I always rooted for her to gain more of a personality. And to leave Patty and find a nice brown-haired, glasses wearing dude with a an overly large and rounded head.
Snoopy was my favorite in my youth. I have to stick with him.
For me, it’s Charlie Brown, because I’ve often felt like a “blockhead”.
Seems to me I remember once there being a female character called Hilary, but I don’t think she was around for very long. The name always stuck in my head though, and that’s what I named my youngest daughter.
Linus. No question.
Charlie Brown is like my old self-Linus my newer one. Am surprised that ol’ Chuck isn’t getting much love (as the protagonist of the strip, natch, you’d think he’d get more votes). But Lucy gets the best lines.
As a small child, I liked Schroeder best because he had blond hair, which he got teased about once in a while, and that was my situation.
Then I was forced to take piano lessons and discovered I hated them. I couldn’t very well have a piano player as my favorite, so I switched to Linus.
I liked Linus a lot and still do, years and years later, but there was just something so appealing, so human, about Charlie Brown… So he got my vote.
I’m totally a Linus. And I have a good friend, a few years older, that is totally a Lucy.
Funny, a few people have pointed out the “shy-little-brother/bossy-big-sister” thing.
This poll was surprisingly hard.
Lucy.
I’m sure if you stay around here long enough, somebody will post a “Poll: Best Villains from Peanuts the Comic Strip” poll.
I would vote for the Cat Next Door.
Would the Little Red Haired Girl or Joe Garagiola be considered a villain or a foil?
Linus was a geek’s geek, and a little brother as well. Far and away my favorite, and my hero.
I liked Thibeault, the pugnacious French Canadian kid
Oh, good grief.
Plus, Peppermint Patty could certainly keep him in his place.
Joe Shlabotnik?
I’ve always felt like Frieda, so she’s always been a favorite of mine. It’s the hair.
But Snoopy is pretty darn cool, too.
The past few years our town has had statues of different characters painted by artists and placed in various locations. And every year I get a map, round up a few friends, and go on a mad dash to see as many as I can see.
This year it’s Lucy, and so far I’ve only seen 4 of them. I need to go get my map and schedule a Saturday for some Lucy hunting. ![]()
