Favorite Pink Floyd Song

There is nothing like getting up at the crack of dawn to sit on the southern edge of the Grand Canyon and listen to Crazy Diamond on the headphones. Wow.

Lucifer Sam, siam cat.

Always sitting by your side…

“Brain Damage/Eclipse” and “When the Tigers Broke Free” are my favorites.

I’m not that big of a floyd fan, mainly because it seemd like DC 101 would play a Floyd song every other freaking record!!! back when I was in high school.

But, for me it’s Wish You Were Here, not just because it falls in line with my feelings about my late bandmates, but reminds me that I would do anything, including giving myself up to have them back.

According to the band, it’s just an amazing coincidence. I tend to believe them. To get the timing right, they would have had to watch that movie many times, and, of course, there were no VCRs in 1973.

A couple of my favorite Floyd songs :

When the Tigers Broke Free (previously only available on The Wall, the movie, not the album. Now it’s on disc 2 of the greatest hits collection they released last year)

The Fletcher Memorial Home

Arnold Layne (Best…Crossdressing… Song … Ever)

Bike (Among the best of the early, super-psychedelic Syd Barrett stuff)

The back-to-back combination of Vera and Bring the Boys Back Home from The Wall.

And last, but certainly not least, the entirety of two of Pink Floyd’s most underrated albums, 1977’s Animals and 1994’s The Division Bell.

My favorite is Us and Them . I love the sax.

I’ll second that.

Most definetly wish you were here. I love the lyrics 2 lost souls in a fish bowl year after year. That so describes a lot of people

The whole DSotM/WoO synchronicity issue was debated ad nauseam in this thread, which includes links to the Mailbag column and a related Pit thread where the debate continued a bit more. Whatever synchronicity might exist was certainly not done intentionally.

As for the favorite song question, I’ve never been able to choose just one, but “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”, “Wish You Were Here”, “Time”, “One of These Days”, and “Fearless” are all contenders.

Paranoid Eyes has yet to be mentioned here. Think I’ll go listen to it right now.

Favorite PF song : “Shine on your crazy diamonds”

Pink Floyd:

-Comfortably Numb (of course… to date the only song that’s made me cry… yeah, I’m a sissy, sue me. :D)
-Run Like Hell
-The Fletcher Memorial
-The Final Cut
-Wish You Were Here
-Welcome To The Machine

'Course, my favorite songs come from Roger’s solo works, Amused To Death, and Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking, which I consider to be the most perfect album ever created.

Coming back to life, followed by Shine on you crazy diamond and Comfortably numb.

Oh you have GOT to be kidding me, SPOOFE. Roger Waters solo–and I include the abysmal Final Cut on that list–is even less interesting than watching paint dry. At least paint doesn’t dry in Parts 1 through 3.

As for the OP: “Time” is the perfect Floyd song, even though there are better Floyd songs. “Wish You Were Here” will still be played 100 years from now.

** Wish you Were Here ** will be played at my funeral.

“Wish You Were Here.” I love the opening verse.

:singing:
So, so you think you can tell,
heaven from hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

I mest agree that the entire “Atom Heart Mother” lbum is my favorite, but the song that really gets to me us “High Hopes”… I don´t know, there´s just something in it that gets to me…

All of Dark Side of the Moon, and all of Wish You Were Here…lots of memories associated with the two albums…

(I miss you, Ace)

(sighs, takes a deep breath)

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (lot of emotion associated with this song), Wish You Were Here (this one, too), On The Day The Wall Came Down, almost all of The Wall, especially Mother, Waiting For The Worms, Run Like Hell, Goodbye Blue Sky, Comfortably Numb, and the Brick In The Wall songs.

Really? I’m having Don’t Fear The Reaper played at mine.
