Favorite Romantic movie?

OK, in honor of Valentines day, what is your favorite movie to watch with a person from the gender of your preference?

Mine is kind of odd, but I like *Creator *with Peter O’Toole.

Also of course, The Princess Bride.

Before Sunrise …saw it with my first love. Every time I see that movie, I get all cheesy and gushy inside, remembering what it was like to be 19 and in love.

Beauty and the Beast
Moulin Rouge!
Groundhog Day (it’s also seasonal. )

Before Sunset

Crossing Delancey

Terminator

Sense and Sensibility - I love this movie.

Juno - sure, it’s a comedy but I think it’s romantic enough for this thread. The third time I went to see it I took the girl I’m seeing, worked out well.

Persuasion

Dark Victory and Now, Voyager, even though they’re not traditional romance movies.

“The Quiet Man”

Another vote for Groundhog Day.

Although *It’s a Wonderful Life * could conceivably fit the criteria.

Shakespeare in Love.

Love Actually.

Another Love, Actually

Also Grosse Pointe Blank

And having just re-watched the last parts tonight, Jekyll, with James Nesbitt

This, and its companion Before Sunset. The most naturally flowing film romances I’ve ever seen.

Not the best movies to watch when you’re single, though. :frowning:

I enjoyed *Before Sunrise * much more than Before Sunset. Maybe that’s because Julie Delpy looked so much hotter in the first one and a bit old and tired in the second one, shallow pig that I am.

Casablanca
Shakespeare in Love
Love Actually

Another vote for Love, Actually.

Also Chocolat and A Life Less Ordinary. Two of my favorites.

Yet another vote for Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. They’re romantic and intelligent at the same time, and strike the right balance of whimsical and realistic for me.

Just to clarify: by realistic I mean the situations are familiar to me. I grew up in Europe and took intercity trains a few times every month, so chatting to strangers about life and such feels normal. And I loved the scene in the car in the second movie where they realize each of their lives is far from perfect, or where they even thought they’d be. They’re deeply flawed people, for all the idealism and romanticism of both movies.

I’m fond of Somewhere in Time, and my hubby is willing to watch it occasionally because of the time-travel premise. It isn’t really science fiction, of course, but my husband can pretend it is.
