Favorite school house rock song?

Oh, wow, that never really even occurred to me. I mean, as a kid I probably never knew that Jamestown Settlement was first. Or I don’t know, maybe I learned it in school but most stuff I was taught at school pretty much went sailing, without stopping, right between my ears and out the other side. I was never a great scholar. Were the Jamestown guys the Lost Colony or was that some other people?

Anyhow I do love that song though but now I’ll remember Jamestown was first! Thanks!

The “Lost Colony” was Roanoke (1585).

The Jamestown settlement (the first English colony that stuck) was founded in 1607.

Those Johnny-come-lately Pilgrims didn’t get here until 1620.

I get my thing in action
Verb!
To be, to see, to feel, to live
Verb!
That’s what’s happenin’!

Moby’s cover of “Verb! That’s What’s Happening” wasn’t nearly so good as Blind Melon’s “Three is a Magic Number,” though. I’d like to hear the Red Hot Chili Peppers do a version.

I thought I remembered something about a Lost Colony in Virginia. Good to know I may have absorbed something! Anyhow, thank you for the information.

“I can take a noun and bend it- GIMMIE A NOUN”
bat…boat…rake and plow
“I’ll make it a verb and really send it!”
Show Me How!

Verb, you’re so commanding

Pretty much all of the History Rock and Grammar Rock songs are my favorites. The exceptions would be Conjunction Junction, Verbs, and Three Ring Government; those just never did much for me.

Victim of Gravity and Telegraph Line are my faves from Science Rock.

The songs from Multiplication Rock just never appealed to me, though.

I have a soft spot for Conjunction Junction, which I got my class to sing a few times when I taught writing skills at a college. But my real favourite? Interjections!

Darn! That’s the end.

It’s understandable everyone would forget “My Hero Zero”, but for me this pointless song was a highlight of “Multiplication Rock”.

Some years ago there was a small stage show in Chicago which basically strung the songs together (think it was “Schoolhouse Rocks!”). “Conjunction Junction” was the audience’s clear favorite, though “I’m just a Bill” was a solid second.

I must protest a song about 3 being a magic number that’s in 4/4 time, I mean, come on!
Does anybody but me remember a spoof of SHR about political correctness? Deal me a link?

Yeah, I love the “Shaft!” feel of the Verb song.

I also like “Zero, my Hero”, with the sad little bunny. I don’t see that one mentioned yet.

My bad… its been a while.
