favorite Three Dog Night song

BTW: thanks to Jackie for the Sunday Earworm.

Good one!

Thank you, CatandMouse, but I still need to work on my presentation:

The first line should have been, “No, no, no; it was… .” Then, SPOILER box the rest for ahem comedic effect , changing “chew” to “gnash,” which sounds closer to “dance.” Then get John Cleese to explain it all.

It won’t happen again. Promise.

you are welcome & may I suggest we all

Dance to the music!

Yes, thank you! Probably because of the timing (they were big around the time I was born), this is one of those bands where I love a lot of the songs but never thought about their overall body of work. If I saw them live there would be a lot of “oh, I forgot that one!” and “oooh, that’s who did this one!” Now that it’s been brought to my attention I plan to put together a playlist ASAP. So much good stuff.

ETA: Shambala most days, sometimes An Old Fashioned Love Song when I’m feeling sappy.

Another vote for An Old Fashioned Love Song.

I remembering “taping” that song off of AM radio

however? Out In The Country, which I linked in the OP, is still the best!

My dad sang me Joy To The World as a bed time song but my mom made him change wine to orange juice. I now sing it to my daughter as a bed time song with the correct lyrics.

Shambala is probably my favorite to listen to.

I attended a concert back in the late '80s; the headliner was America and the opening act was Three Dog Night. Boffo show, right? Sorta. 3DN kicked ass in every respect. Only two of the singers were present but they still sounded fantastic. Played almost 2 full hours–never seen an opening act perform that long. America played 55 minutes and then hit the road. Only sounded so-so, too. 2DN should have headlined.

They were my first concert and that was part of my first real date. I remember it all.

Shambala, or Black and White.

I just want to say: I’ve always liked Three Dog Night since back in the day, and have a bunch of their songs on my go-to Best of All Time playlist. But I cannot tell you a single thing about them: where they’re from, the names of any members…I can’t even tell you how many people are in Three Dog Night.

Most anonymous band ever.

Hands down “Pieces of April”. Second choice would be “Out in the Country”.

“Out in the Country” is number one for me.

Another vote for “Eli’s Coming.”

I remember liking It’s For You, Nobody, and Chest Fever off that first album. That’s probably what drove my parents insane.

I always have to turn up the radio when “Joy to the World” comes on.

“Easy to be Hard” is clearly their best song, according to the world-famous Ponch8 Music Rating System.

^ Patent pending?

Pick one? Just one ??

Forget it. :stuck_out_tongue:
