Favorite TV commercials from your childhood

:smack::smack:

"When its time to relax,

One beer stands clear

Year after year.

If you’ve got the time,

We’ve got the beer

Miller Beer!"

Man, I could watch that gem over and over again every day and never get tired of it.

Crap! Beaten to it!

“Penny for a gumball, Mickey. Thanks for the gumball, Mickey!”

From the land of sky blue waters
From the land of pines’ lofty balsams,
Comes the beer refreshing,
Hamm’s the beer refreshing.

Somebody else already mentioned the Tootsie Roll song.

Also, for some reason I use to love Colecovison adds.

Mr. Bubble:Your mother won’t know you
It was the one with the Mr. MaGoo-like grandma. That little kid Hubert was so cute.
“Madame, how do you do?”
“Tell your mother it’s only 49 cents. She’ll like that.”

Cadbury’s Fudge

Cadbury’s Fruit & Nut

Watch out! There’s a Humphrey about! - with Muhammad Ali

As a kid I enjoyed the Alka-Seltzer commercial with the prisoners at meal time slamming their cups on the table and chanting “Alka-Seltzer! Alka-Seltzer!”. Then my mother saw it one day and burst out laughing. When I asked her why, she explained who George Raft was and what kind of movies he made.

Pepsi-Cola hits the spot
Twelve whole ounces, that’s a lot
Something, something

And, all you geezer, codgers and coots gather ‘round. Remember Gabby Hayes proclaiming the superiority of puffed wheat and puffed rice because, by Golly, it’s shot from guns. Scene: shaggy bearded old coot with what seems to be a 68 pounder carronade. Coot jerks the lanyard. Cannon goes off. KA-BOOM. Popcorn breakfast cereal all over the place.

“Remember, kids, Quaker Puffed Whatevers is the only cereal shot from guns.”

I don’t remember Gabby Hayes, but I remember the use of the 1812 Overture: “this is the cereal that’s shot from guns (boom)”

The Coast Federal Savings ads with a live bunny arranging blocks and dropping a coin in a bank, with a jingle to the tune of “Pop Goes the Weasel.”

Beat me to it. Bucky Beaver for Ipana toothpaste, right?

How about Prell (?) in the new plastic bottle- “It didn’t break! It didn’t BREAK!”

OR:

“…con Gleem.”

Okay, Boomers- who else remembers “Manners the Butler” ??

or

“When you’re driving
in a Rambler
and the whole world smiles at you”
and

Vitalis hair tonic - no more GREASY KID STUFF
.

I loved the Foamy shaving cream commercials. I always wanted to ride that roller coaster as it blew thru a ton and a half of cream.

Harold Sakata, who played “Oddjob” in the James Bond film “Goldfinger” made a Vicks 44 cough medicine commercial.

Ha yeah

Also don’t forget the Tootsie roll Song one!

::Raises hand:: “They cling like cloth!”

(Kleenex Napkins)

“Mother, please! I’d rather do it MYSELF!”

I was always entranced by the “Land of Dairy Queen (We Treat You Right!)” commercials. Unfortunately can’t find any on youtube. But they featured ice cream “mountains” and hot fudge “rivers”, canyons made of banana split ingredients, etc.

And I wanted to my teenage years to be like the Mountain Dew commericals…swinging off rope swings into a mountain lake with all my friends. Oh yeah, like this one.

Could it be this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIgZHZpiq1U
