When I was a kid in the 70s there was another VD PSA that I used to sing all the time. It went “Veeee Deeee… gets around” and there was some bushy-haired guy with a backpack walking away. I remember my mother telling me to stop singing it and not knowing why, lol.
Another one I sang constantly was “I hanker for a hunk-a, a slab a slice a chunk-a, I hanker for a piece of cheeeese!”
Wash your hands after going to the bathroom
Wash your hands after changing baby too
Cause we don’t want to get hepatitis
And we don’t want hepatitis to get you
Who? You!
Saturday night, Saturday night
go downtown, see the sites
girls and pinball, Coke in bright lights
wish everyday for Saturday night
Coca Cola adds life
When the lights are bright
Wish every day for Saturday night… and on
I miss Little Caesar’s – not so much for the pizza (although it was cheap), but because their ads were really, really funny (and often absurdist). I’m looking for my favorite, but here’s one that’s hilariously weird.
Oh, I just remembered the singing pills… "we’re not candy (believe us!), even though we look so fine and dandy, when you’re sick we come in handy BUT we’re not candy! (ooooh no!)
Oh, Cal Worthington is still a touchstone in So. Cal. I don’t see commercials much any more, but Wiki says he still appears sometimes in the tv commercials.
Nope – again, there’s no semi-rotating creepy smiling puppet face at the end…also, IIRC, the commercial/PSA/whatever in question wasn’t animated, it was live…I could be wrong, though…
