Favourite Beer

The ones that other people pick up the tab for are mighty fine in my book

I get ragged on all the time for this, but an icy-cold Coors Light longneck is my absolute favorite.

I’ve tried to like other beers, such as Guiness, Sam Adams and many others, but they’re either too heavy or too bitter or just taste nasty.

Sheri

Chimay and Young’s Oatmeal Stout are both excellent, but I have to admit a deep and enduring affection for Miller High Life, “The Champagne of Beers.” I’m surprised it’s doing so well in the polls.

I liked Celis White, too, but I still drink Miller High Life.

Magic Hat #9 - fantastic beer

Now, if we’re buying in bulk (which, hell, that tends to be the motif of my age catagory . . . ) - let’s go with Old Milwaukee . . . cheap, and let’s face it, it could suck worse. I guess.

Nothing can beat Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, although, if I could get my mitts on some of this, I might have a new favorite:

Damn you, lucky Pennsylvanians! Anyone had it?

8.2%? Bet that stuff packs a wallop.

I would have to go with Rodenbach Grand Cru as my #1 beer of choice, but you can’t get it in the states any more:(

After that Victory Old horzintal Barlywine (in Downingtown PA) makes me drool

My usual beers are yuengling Lager and Sam Adams Lager

Redback (West Australian wheat beer), Cooper’s Sparkling (yum!), Hahn Premium, Matilda Bay Pils (only on tap!)… all of these are good Aussie beers.

Porter: I cannot believe this hasn’t been mentioned… Sam Smith’s Taddy Porter. It has to be their best drink period.

Ale: For the life of me I can’t think of one better at the moment so I’m going to say Sam Adams Boston Ale.

Brown Ale: Carolina Nut Brown (local) is really good. Stronger than New Castle but full of flavor.
The Double Bock will be returning January as its their early year seasonal.

We have a 2.50 pint night here for 85-90 different draft beers. Can’t beat that

Holy, sh*t! Knowed Out, are you me?!?

That’s almost verbatim what I was going to post. ('cept for the IPA)

Welcome to the Dope from a fellow Raleigh-ite! Love the Greenshields Amber. Also, Tir na Nog, around the corner from Greenshields, used to have a phenomenal house ale, specially brewed for them, IIRC, by the brewmaster from Carolina Brewery. Sadly, he quit making it for them earlier this year.

A note about Pete’s - They’ve brought back the Red. Thing is, Pete’s was recently bought up by one of the big boys, who re-formulated most of their styles after scads of focus-group testing. The beer column in the News and Observer wrote about it a month or two ago. So, while the Red is back, I don’t think it tastes the same. Somewhat blander, unsurprisingly. I haven’t tried the re-worked Strawberry Blonde yet.

I’ve been having some difficulty finding Dixie Blackened Voodoo, recently. Where do you get it 'round here?

One of the most flavorful ales I ever tasted was Rhino Chasers, but I can’t seem to find it any more, either.

Just last night I bought a Saranac Holiday Pack. Twelve different varieties of theirs. Should be good.

But on a normal basis, I buy Negra Modelo or Beck’s Dark. Newcastle at a restaurant, if it’s on draft.

CaelNCSU, where around State do you go for $2.50 pints from 90 taps? The Pour House?

Is that the one with the picture of a Monk on the bottle?
With the yeast steeled on the bottom of the bottle?
If it is that stuff sure is easy to drink, It slides right down like apple juice.
My top pick is Fat Tire. I read about it right here on the SDMB. I picked some up, gave it a taste, and promptly forgot about any other beers as being my favorites.

I will give a few nods towards
Shiner Bock
Sam Adams
Abita Turbo Dog
Grolsch

As for cheap beer I like Miller High life.
If I want to remember my youth I may drink a Mickey’s Big Mouth, Hell I may even chug it.

Alexander Keith’s India Pale Ale.

Guinness.

Completely different, yet…
