Eddie Izzard is the God of Stand-Up Comedians in my universe. I caught the Eddie bug a couple of years ago and have since passed it on to almost everyone I know.

Before I discovered Eddie, Bill Cosby was the funniest man on earth to me. His early 80’s routine “Himself” has to be some of the funniest comedy ever put on film, IMHO.

Let’s see…then there’s Lewis Black, Bob Newhart, Margaret Cho, Mitch Hedburg, Wanda Sykes, Ellen Degeneres…I have a huge list. I’m a big fan of stand-up.

<slight hijack>Does anyone know the name of the comedian who does the routine about the cat batting at the toe tag as his owner’s body is carried out of his apartment? It’s obviously way funnier than I make it sound, of course. </slight hijack>

I went to the grocery store today. Hung out for a couple of hours, just looking around. Standing in front of the rice cakes, thinking, “How much pot would I have to smoke to think of this as a food item?” Who woke up one morning and said, “Packing material, pressed into a disk: mmmm, tasty.”

I was actually there because I needed a pint of Ben and Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk and box of tampons. Because pretty much if you’re shopping for one you’re shopping for the other. They should package them together. Like shampoo and cream rinse. That’d be a great ad campaign. “Tampons in the freezer section?” “Why, yes.” I got up to the front and the cashier checked me out and said, “Paper or plastic?” I said, “Oh, I don’t want a bag. I just want to walk down the street with these things out in front of me and watch people get out of my way.”
