FBI is re-opening investigation into Clinton's email

IIRC when the United States diplomatic cables leak from wikileaks was over the news, I do think that a note was passed around in government offices telling staffers that reading those now in the open emails was still breaking the law because a lot of those messages were deemed to be classified.

I wonder why that has not been an issue now with more recent leaks.

BTW reading the weird letter again I have to note that Comey does make the point that it is a “supplement” * to the original investigation, still sounds to me as not reopening an investigation but more to dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s.

  • noun

something added to complete a thing, supply a deficiency, or reinforce or extend a whole.
2.
a part added to a book, document, etc., to supply additional or later information, correct errors, or the like.

I do think the wishful thinking here came from the Republican that punked the media, Trump and many others. A supplement is not a replacement or a dismissal of what was found before it is something that is added to the already made piece.

Again, the semantic argument that this is not a “re-opening” of the investigation is incredibly ridiculous to anyone not already firmly in the Clinton camp and probably a lot of them too. The FBI stopped investigating, now they are doing some more. Call it a supplement/appendix/post notes all you like. No one is going to buy it.

If it’s thousands of emails, there won’t be a definitive result for a month. Damn right this is inappropriate.

Investigate and then tell us what you know when you know it for sure. Smoke screen 11 days before an election? On a Friday so it features on the Sunday news shows?

Where’s the Dog and Pony, Mr. Barnum???

Now that we are all in agreement of what the meaning of “is” is, we can move onto what the meaning of “re-opening” is.

Oh, please. You release stuff on Friday if you want it to get buried over the weekend*. This would be on the Sunday Talk Shows no matter which day it gets released.

*Not that I think this is the case, but the idea of purposely releasing on Friday in order to highlight it is laughable.

The stock market closes on Friday and they didn’t know what it was all about either:http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/us-stocks-rise-strong-economic-report-43131771

If the news about Hillary and her email server keep coming after the election … what will the stock market do? Doesn’t she give advice to wall street?

The New York Times says:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/29/us/politics/fbi-hillary-clinton-email.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=a-lede-package-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0

I think this is unlikely to be resolved before the election, and since the resolution is more likely to be in her favor (I suspect), leaving it hangout out there unresolved through the election is not doing her any good. She should thank her lucky stars she’s running against Trump, if she hasn’t already done so! Having this new investigation tied into Wiener’s Dick Pics is even worse.

And it seems that you did buy the idea that the case was not being investigated anymore, it was but not affecting Clinton anymore because, the FBI decided not to recommend an indictment, what is happening is more likely to be indeed a supplement to what was found so far. It could lead to something else and implicate Clinton; but as the message also reported, they do not know if this will amount to something.

Again, unless the word “supplement” means something else, the point I made stands.

And your point will fall on deaf ears to all but the Clinton cheerleaders. Because it’s obvious tap dancing.

That was Comey’s word, not mine. What you say here is just an acknowledgement that you have noting but this is just as I noted early, just hay for politicians. CBS and the BBC are not deaf on this. And I have noticed that many here do get it. So you are even wrong on the “falling on deaf ears thing”

And unless you want to make CBS and the BBC as part of the Clinton conspiracy the best explanation is that in reality many on the right were just punked by the Republicans in congress.

Demand better from them, I’m not responsible for you being misled by them.

“Many here get it” you say? Well that certainly disproves my point that only Clinton cheerleaders will buy it. None of those people hang around here!

Actually…no. The FBI director should NOT give details of an actual active investigation. That’s not how investigations are done, and an exception should not be made for political reasons.

Now, now, don’t use semantics to get out  of what you did say:

“And your point will fall on deaf ears to all”; yep, you did say all, it turns out that not all are indeed missing it, like media out there that is changing the original headlines as they are noticing the punk and many over here.

Of course I do expect that Trump, like how he looks at polls, will continue to tell his followers the original silly spin and not change it, showing (once again) how dangerous he would be as he demonstrates how very impulsive he will be with American and even world affairs.

Once Hillary becomes President, does this email business become legally moot for 4-8 years? A President can only be impeached for things that take place during presidency, not before, right?

OK, all voters. I am proud that some parts of the media are pointing out your semantic nitpick. Too bad the BBC doesn’t get a vote. Like I said, this matter seemed settled, now all of a sudden it isn’t. The idea that “it’s not proper to call it a re-opening” matters to anyone is laughable.

They can impeach her for picking her nose 30 years ago. There’s no rules about it other than vote counts in the House and Senate.

Okay, having thought about this for a while, I can possibly see the late date being a blessing to Clinton; given all the voting that’s already going on, I just don’t see how this shrinks her lead significantly, much less gives a victory to Trump.

Hell, you might as well argue it shakes Clinton supporters out of complacency.

Trump did too much to push himself down in the polls for this to swing the election, if it has any legs at all. It’s not good for Hillary, but Trump is toast. You heard that last bit here first!!
