In September 2020, Bell was taken off the air from her radio host position at KDKA Radio following comments she made on-air advocating for park rangers to shoot protesters while talking about demonstrators protesting Mt. Rushmore in summer 2020.
Them: “Trump has dirt on everybody, including Crossfire Hurricane, the Steele Dossier, and Hillary’s emails.”
Me: “Help me understand why Trump would sit on such bombshell documents for over a year and a half instead of releasing them to every conservative news outlet in the country – particularly since we keep hearing that he could declassify anything at any time?”
This has happened on numerous occasions. Unfortunately, that’s as far as the conversation has gotten thus far.
I’m not following this all as closely as the rest of you but isn’t it clear that Trump’s public statements and his lawyers and supporters statements are all made merely to win over the opinion of his base? This is all a PR performance - and with it he hopes to maintain his grip on the Republican party and the right wing of the country. The legal repercussions of these statements are of secondary importance to Trump and his team.
His base doesn’t need winning over. To maintain their allegiance, the most he and his supporters would have to do is repeat simple statements along the lines of, “The DOJ is wrong, and the facts will bear this out.”
All this flailing and excuse-hopping is nothing but Trump’s hyperactive ego and self-preservation instinct melting down.
Disagree. They need to be OUTRAGED! There needs to be a constant stream of “HERE’S HOW THE DEEP STATE IS OUT TO GET ME!” to keep them enraged, and to keep the money flowing.
Okay, there’s some truth to that (especially the money part), but any halfway competent PR firm could pump the outrage without offering up inconsistent, self-contradictory nonsense that actually incriminates Individual One. Him running his mouth and “twuthing” is (I predict) finally gonna bite him in the ass this time, and his idiot lawyers are no smarter than he is.
That would require Trump to hire and pay one, and have the discipline to follow their scripts.
Even if he were inclined to think he needed the help, I think any PR firm he could hire now would be par with the quality of lawyers he is able to hire these days.
It keeps him in the headlines. That picture of the papers on the floor was on the “front page”* of every news outlet in the country. And he didn’t have to pay anyone to make it happen.
His ego needs for him to be in the headlines every single day. The reason doesn’t matter.
Mr Kushner said: "I think it’s something that again, this seems like it’s an issue of paperwork that should have been able to be worked out between the DOJ [Department of Justice] and him [Mr Trump].
“I don’t know what he took or what he didn’t take but I think right now we’re relying on leaks to the media.”
Pressed on whether he had seen the photo of documents marked top secret, Mr Kushner replied: “I’ve seen a lot of allegations made by the media over my four years that turned out not to be true.”
Asked if it would have been the wrong thing to do if they were top secret documents, Mr Kushner said: "Like I said, I don’t think we should answer hypotheticals. Let’s wait until we know the facts. And then we’ll see what the right way to go is.
“I don’t know what was taken, why it was taken and what’s been recovered and what the ramification of that is going to be.”
He added: “First of all, he was the president of the United States, he had the highest clearance in the world. So I don’t know if this may be a paperwork issue. Like I said, I haven’t been involved in the details.”
Do you have a source or any context in which these statements were made? An interview, press conference…? Generally, it’s best to link to where you got this from, so we can understand the quotes.
