Thank you!
So essentially, he took a long time to say he’s completely ignorant about the situation and knows much less about it than the average person. Thanks for the insight, Jared.

Quoting from the cited article:
"Mr Kushner has dismissed the FBI raid on Mr Trump’s Florida home as “an issue of paperwork”.
"So I don’t know if this may be a paperwork issue. Like I said, I haven’t been involved in the details.”
He’s making about as much sense as his orange father-in-law.
I wonder if Jared will also object to the incarceration of the Orange Peril for obstruction of justice and mishandling of state secrets as “just an issue of paperwork”, namely the paperwork issued by the court certifying his conviction and sentencing.
It’s not “an allegation by the media”, you lying piece of shit, it’s an FBI forensic photograph taken as evidence.
What a totally corrupt, sycophantic lying slimeball! No wonder he fits right into the Trump Mob.
Also, what does “over my four years” mean? Is Jared attesting that he’s four years old? Or is he referring to his four years as Official First Sycophantic Son-in-Law in a corrupt nepotistic administration?
Evidently he meant the second, but he would describe it differently. Sure it is not “sycophantic” when it is all really about you, is it? Thus “his” four years. He wants to add that you have no idea what true narcissism is and how good it feels, and he is on a par with his Godfather-in-Law on this, actually leaving him far behind every time he has carnal intercourse with his daughter. Making his GiL jealous is the best part of it. That, and the trips to the Middle East.
You know, some people read while eating. And this was a delicious sandwich, too.
I wonder if this won’t actually be Trump’s least damaging line of defense. Something like:
I know it’s all bullshit – and ignorance and incompetence are not legal defenses – but it might be enough to convince a jury (and lots of voters) that Trump didn’t commit a felony.
“The defendant would like to plead stupid.”
It’s a convincing approach, certainly.
Except for the affidavit stating that they had no more documents and therefore wouldn’t be returning anything else. I suppose they can claim that affidavit was submitted in error and hope that a jury believes them, but given how easily the FBI was able to find those documents (hopefully) the jury would see right through that.
I’m convinced that the central political strategy going forward is going to be one of minimizing… what is the big deal? All this noise and fury over what is essentially some administrative irregularity. Who hasn’t ever had an overdue library book? I’ve yet to hear any viable legal strategy that’s going to extricate Trump from his present troubles.
Aside from Napolitano (linked above), Fox may be sending up yet another bat-shit crazy trial balloon:
Cue Blazing Saddles:
Yeah, and when you were caught, you paid a penalty ($0.10 a day or something).
He had a few hundred overdue books; let’s give him a fine of 1 day per book per day.
Exactly. Just like the IRS fining hard-working job creators for filling out the wrong form, the radical-left Biden DOJ wants to cancel Trump for a clerical error.
Oh, absolutely. With a healthy dose of “But what about Hillary? What about Obama? What about Hunter Biden?” with the implication being everybody does it and the only reason Trump is being treated differently is because the Democrats are out to get him.
It will absolutely work with the 35% of the country that loves him no matter what (and hates Democrats). It will likely work with at least one juror if it goes to trial - resulting in no conviction.
What will decide things is (a) will it work with the GOP leadership and right-wing media to the point that they continue to defend him even while he is on trial and (b) will it work with the general electorate (the non-MAGA 65%).
I think the outcome of the midterms will tell a lot. If Trump is the face of the GOP, which it seems he will be, and the GOP doesn’t get a big wave, then I think you will see a lot of hand-wringing around whether they can continue to support him during a potential trial and heading into the 2024 general election.
Actually, I’ve never had an overdue library book. Ever. That’s just the kind of gal I am.
Carry on.
I was made to buy a long overdue book, only to find it on the shelf on a subsequent visit.
During the shortened transition period, documents were packed in haste.
Those aren’t my cigarettes, I don’t know how they got in my backpack.
It was the President’s understanding that, despite their markings, all the documents had been declassified.
I thought you said it was okay if I smoke.
When we were alerted by the National Archives that some of the documents belonged to them, we did our best to comply.
They’re not even my cigarettes. In fact, I was just about to give them to you since I didn’t want to get in trouble.
Unfortunately, errors in filing led to certain boxes staying at Mar-a-Lago that should have been returned.
But then I forgot and they ended up in my sock drawer.
We were in the process of preparing those documents for return when the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago.
Like I said, mom, I was going to give them to you. It’s not my fault you searched my room first.
All of this could have been avoided if the DOJ had simply alerted us to to the issue sooner and been more patient.
If you had just told me I wasn’t allowed to have cigarettes, I wouldn’t have bought them in the first place.
Plus, I was late for school because I was arguing with you, and that’s why I had to pack the backpack so fast!
I wonder how much Jared Kushner spoke with Trump before this interview and agreed on what to say to these questions that would obviously come up. I wonder if this is Trump’s new strategy, say it was merely a paperwork error. Or if this is just something Kushner came up with by himself.
A slightly more detailed list was unsealed this morning: Document Viewer : NPR
Basically just breaks down what was in the Office v. the Storage Room. It seems the documents in the office will be the key since it appears DOJ/FBI was aware of the storage room but had signed statements that there wasn’t anything classified in the office. A logical inference is that the stuff in the office was what was being hidden.
