FBI Search and Seizure at Trump's Mar-A-Lago Residence, August 8, 2022, Case Dismissed July 15, 2024

Good list. Add stupidity too.

You likely know that quid is a slang term for British money. In that case, one phrasing is wittier than the other.

This makes it seem like he actually worked.

I’m not talking about what you or I would consider work. I’m talking about what Trump considers “work”: seeking out adulation, lashing out at slights petty and gross, and above all, grifting. In his mind, these documents may have been central to his job.

That’s a good point. He didn’t sit around doing nothing. He was busy giving press conferences to talk about how great he was, tweeting out conspiracy theories and playground insults, and so on.

He wasn’t doing presidential things, he wasn’t being a leader, but he definitely put in the work (as he believed the job needed to be done).

Though I’d wager even his version of “work” was less than most people in that position. For example, he seemed to golf more than his predecessors did.

And watch a lot more TV.

Fair enough, by his values of ‘work’ I could see the love letter from Kim being important. The rest of the classified documents, we’ll need to know more. Or ideally, not, other than in general terms, because, well, even with possible over-classification issues, we almost certainly do not have need to know.

Hey, those lies don’t spread by themselves!

This may be one of the best descriptions of Trump’s characteristics ever.

You left out one of the important ones – well, after the grifting – picking out color swatches and curtains.

And the documents were props, like those blank-paper folios he was ‘signing.’

With the caveat that there’s a WHOLE lot of uncorroborated speculation going on …

Wouldn’t leaking this information to the Post be nearly as sloppy as Trump hoarding the docs to begin with? Why would anyone connected with the investigation do so?

I look at it like this:

Taking a photograph of a sexually explicit magazine that arrived in my mailbox, still in its plain brown wrapper, and then posting that photo on the Interwebs would give people an idea of what’s in the wrapper and in the magazine.

But it wouldn’t be publishing or trafficking in pornography.

Saying that nuclear information concerning Iran was in the TS documents – ISTM – is highly unlikely to be revealing anything that could reasonably be considered sensitive.

Topic headings, no specifics.

Also, it’s pretty much guaranteed that these speculations about the topic headings are pretty much known by everyone in the intelligence community at this point. So they are really not revealing anything shocking.

True. But I wasn’t so much concerned that the DOJ was revealing secrets – just that allowing even this much information to leak out seems like sloppy work by an investigation that’s played things pretty close to the vest.

Unless it’s an intentional leak. What would be the thinking behind that?

I do think that’s a valid question, but in another discussion, elsewhere, I pointed out this (11pp PDF):

Report of Investigation Regarding Alleged Unauthorized Contacts by Federal Bureau of Investigation Employees with the Media and Other Persons in Advance of the 2016 Election

Leaks are as much a part of DC as the air that they breathe. There are probably broad categories of why people leak, but I’m not sure we generally know who leaked and why in a given instance.

To try to show the Trumpistas that their hero has compromised very important government classified secrets about other countries, and this has damaged the country’s safety. It won’t convince the die hard morons, but it might just sway some with more than two brain cells to rub together.

Their MESSiah.

The Gang of 8 gets access to all top national security information.

Given that it’s getting near to election day for Congress, I think the most reasonable explanation would be that Pelosi or Schumer were briefed and decided to release the information. It’s unlikely that someone in the FBI did. The White House could have and might have for the same reason but, in general, they have less of a motive since they’re less focused on the election.

Pelosi would be my guess.

Kang won, Homer voted for Kodos.

So, this is happening:

I actually don’t know if it’s Trump related, but didn’t know where else to dump this as it could be.

Maybe some Russian diplomats being expelled?
