This baffles me as well. I mean, it’s a given that anyone who associates with Trump is going to be under the bus or down the toilet. Either sooner or later, but eventually, EVERYone in Trump’s orbit is going to get flushed.
People charged, going to jail, reputations trashed, lawyers sanctioned and disbarred… the list goes on. And yet, more will line up to be the next sucker - the next to have their lives and careers ruined. It’s baffling.

I can’t think of any reason why he wouldn’t be.
He asked for the special master, he got the special master, and even though the Eleventh wouldn’t permit him to wrongly delay proceedings with his tactics, he got an order that he was to pay for the special master – irrespective to whatever extent the special master was utilized.
Frankly, it will cost him more to fight paying the special master than to just pay him.
Not that this has ever worked to deter Trump before.

From our perspective, of course, these people’s careers and reputations have been trashed. But I bet there’s plenty of cash to be made – in speaker’s fees and other, even less savory arrangements – by milking the reputation gained by being on Trump’s team. MAGAts don’t care about the outcome; they just care that you were close to their hero. (Even if the hero now pretends you don’t exist.)
Aside from those few who have been convicted of actual crimes, I bet most of these under-bus-thrown types* feel like they’re doing just fine.
