Surely the grift from the Trumpistas is starting to run dry? I mean, there is only so much you can squeeze out of these losers, and the grifter/griftee ratio is getting rather large…
That’s just “speed bump.” German nouns have the ability to capture such complex ideas, there must be one for a throwing-under-the-bus victim. Or someone could make one up.
Like any pyramid scam, it will collapse eventually. But meanwhile, I bet a thrown-under-the-bus Trump lawyer still carries a lot of sway with (for instance) MAGAt-run businesses who want to flout state, local or EPA restrictions (or evade penalties for said flouting).
Until the MAGAt run business loses in court and is assessed fines and penalties and has their assets seized, and the lawyer is sanctioned and disbarred.
Then all the fun stops.

I agree. Any language that can turn “streetcar stop” into “strassenbahnhaltestelle” can come up with something for “thrown under a bus.” My high German just doesn’t have that vocabulary any more, I’m afraid. The other construct I could remember is “wolfsfutter.” Although that might sound better in Russian.
Hey, you guys gave me a challenge to come up with the perfect German word, but all I can offer is “Unterdenbusschmeissopfer”. I think this word isn’t funny, but maybe you like it. Of course I made it up.

This is a guy who has made a career of going after very high level politicians on corruption charges. I think he’s going to lump together everything he can to show what a cesspool that the Hangry Hangry Hippo was wallowing around in.

But there are so many similarities. Both large, dangerous (but sometimes not seen as such) and both throw sh*t around to mark their territory.
I believe this territory marking has already been mentioned, probably in the Interesting Random Fact thread, but it bears repeating here.
Angeschwärzte? Verratene? Several words mean “denounced/calumniated”, but I’m not sure any carry quite the same implied force of placing the blame for one’s own actions on an underling who might at worst have just been doing what you told them to do.
