I fear my now imminent trip Stateside will prove as severe test on my linguistic capabilities as my navigational skills.

Robert Hannsen was at ADX Florence for life after committing non-violent offences under the Espionage Act
Just putting this out there, because it would be hilariously ironic, but what’s wrong with Gitmo for “house arrest” purposes.
Make the sentence a “prison or pay” one. Six years in fed prison or $4 billion.
What kills me is a political party of any (most) kind would declare this person to not be a sane or viable candidate. I don’t see the GOP rescinding on their backing at all.
I’m against political prisoners.
And I’m against hilarious sentences generally.
The primary purpose of house arrest, in the federal system, is to reintegrate the prisoner with family and society towards the end of their sentence. Sending to gitmo is the opposite.
They are doing so quietly:
Senate GOP leaders break with House on Trump indictment
While obviously frightened of their constituents who feel otherwise, very roughly half of the office-holders would love to see Trump sent to prison. The ones who say they would pardon him are lying. Of course they would then criticize how he was treated — and even more so, and properly, if he was treated unfairly, as some here seem to advocate.
I don’t know if it’s unusual for him or not, but I’ve really noticed the last couple days that every time trump is shown traveling he’s got Walt attached to his hip. Afraid to let him out of his sight lest someone try to talk sense into him?
Take a plea, flip, and get a lighter sentence, dude! The orange emperor will drop you like you’re hot at the first sign that it might benefit him.
I’m thinking a Winnebago parked in the exercise yard at Leavenworth. All the comforts of home, with a lot less gilt and plaster.
More seriously, Trump Tower makes a lot of sense. His apartment is on what? The fifty-somethingth floor? Easier to secure, and capable of accepting deliveries of groceries and other necessities. And no stepping outside, unless it’s onto the balcony (if it has one). Certainly, no leaving to play golf at Bedminster.
And no Internet access in any form. Shutting him up on Truth/Twitter/Whatever would be more of a punishment than he’s ever endured before. Confinement to his apartment, no golf, and no platform on which he can express himself—to Trump, that would indeed be punishment.
He might not see the end of his sentence. Even if it’s only a few years. He’s pretty old and doesn’t take very good care of himself.
LOL, there’s something intrinsically hilarious about Winnebagos. Perfect choice!
And I agree, golf is right out. He can amuse himself in the usual ways of usual prisoners. You know. Sharpening shanks, making occasional phone calls, body building.
They can bring in a fringed flag for his conjugal visits.
I mean, tRump isn’t at all like those gun-totin’, dynomite-throwin’, car-jackin’, baby-barbequein’ psychopaths like Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, amirite?
Just…wow…this guy:
Trump further predicted that he will not be convicted on the federal charges stemming from the documents case. He also stressed that he would not accept a plea deal unless he was presented one “where they pay me some damages.”
The idea of Loser Donald living as a fugitive is hilarious to me, because you know he’d be completely incapable of NOT broadcasting his location to his cultists at the first opportunity. “There are people who are haters of “TRUMP” who are being very unfair to your favorite president (Me!), and I can’t tell you where I am, but I’m making a major announcement this Sunday at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.”
“Mr. Trump, the prison canteen has a fine selection of Word Search and Connect-the-Dots puzzle books.”
Noticed while surfing. Apparently, there’s new signage at Mar a Lago …
Thinking about this some more, I don’t have an absolute opposition to Trump being sent there — except that it should always be a last resort:
I can see a heightened risk, with DJT, of an attempted helicopter or other drama-filled escape attempt, and maybe that prison is good for preventing such.
But whomever makes those kind of decisions shouldn’t pay the slightest attention to people who want a particular disliked prisoner treated harshly. And they should consider what consistent critics of the Supermax say.
And Donald responds to Bill Barr…
Virtually everyone is saying that the Indictment is about Election Interference & should not have been brought, except Bill Barr, a “disgruntled former employee” & lazy Attorney General who was weak & totally ineffective. He doesn’t mean what he’s saying, it’s just MISINFORMATION. Barr’s doing it because he hates “TRUMP” for firing him. He was deathly afraid of the Radical Left when they said they would Impeach him. He knows the Indictment is Bull…. Turn off Fox News when that “Gutless Pig” is on!
My god, a quote that is both utterly confusing, and yet, at the same time, perfectly understandable. Of course this is how his mind works.
Gutless pig. Who’s a good former president? Barr covered your ass hugely when the Mueller report came out.
