When the chariot drives into a crowd and injures people, and does it over and over again, do you blame the horses or the driver?
Cops = horses, for the metaphorically-challenged.

Would that be markedly different from Conservatives currently screaming to defund “all the alphabet organizations ?”
[And there’s nothing facially improper with this Warrant or the underpinnings or results as we understand them today]
Except … most liberals wanted to put an end to police corruption, reduce militarization, and shift responsibilities and resources to organizations better suited to execute … without … y’know … actually executing.

(for now)
Obviously there can be systemic problems. But the when the security apparatus of the state is revered or reviled merely because of their political targets one rightly questions the integrity of the process. Of course, there is tremendous value in ad hominem attacks or straight up dishonesty when the rule of law or rules in general are selectively enforced because it distracts from the institutional corruption.
My initial comment was prompted because of the dehumanizing language directed at political opponents and the desire to use the security and military apparatus to eliminate them. Directed at any other group that would be borderline so-called hate speech. The shift in tone is jarring.
Yes. Defunding a corrupt organization is markedly different from calling for the elimination of dehumanized political opponents.
You don’t call killing innocent people without the benefit of due process "using their powers unjustly?? As for “dehumanizing language,” some of the comments captured on audio and video that some of the police used in reference to African-Americans will certainly qualify.
Gee, I’m sorry Trump committed a crime and has to face consequences for it. Historically, espionage has carried heavy penalties, up to and including execution. Tell me, what sentence do you think is appropriate if Trump is found guilty of espionage – No Seconds on Dessert?
And stop with the “defund the police” meme, it’s misleading in the extreme.
The Last Trump?
Oh, so we’re going to cater to the lowest common denominator (read that as: lowest form of life) in lieu of seeing justice done? I say, bring it
What a combination of excluding the middle and damn any thought to consequences.
Actual campaign promises and chants during fiery riots are not what makes a set of real events a meme nor is politically damaging to the dems synonymous with misleading.

So … more like the incessant chants of ‘LOCK HER UP’ that we were all subjected to for years.
Okay.

You do realize that the FBI were executing a proper and legal search warrant. Believe it or not, we on The Left like it when law enforcement does its job properly.

I’m sorry, who pardoned Roger Stone and Paul Manafort again?

These are the same people who tried to overthrow the government over a huge hissy-fit and caused not only property damage but loss of life. They have expressed time and again their willingness to commit acts of terrorism and even war against the lawful government of this country. The threat to commit such acts if Trump is tried and convicted is implicit. If they rise up in open rebellion, then the Security and Military Apparatus should use whatever means necessary to put them down decisively. You want to spank me for using the words “bottom-feeding” and “assclowns,” be my guest.
It’s funny how the tone from the left changes when they are able to direct law enforcement and the military at their political enemies.
Nah, that “able to direct” is a really implausible statement. The left had very little to do with what the FBI is doing in response to the reckless behavior of Trump (if you did miss it, what he has done now is to put the lives of FBI agents in danger by revealing the names of the agents involved in the raid). Specially when Trump was first denying that he had the classified documents and then accusing the FBI of planting certain evidence, and now he declared the documents unclassified.
Defending Trump after those dumb moves is only for the hive minds of many conservatives out there. (no, just declaring documents declassified does not work) And how does that work when he started telling his minions that the documents were planted?
damn any thought to consequences.
Not thinking of consequences when Ford pardoned Nixon is what got us Iran-Contra, and ultimately to here. He thought he was saving the country in the short term. He might have reconsidered if he knew then what we know now.

So you admit it’s not true. Thank you.

Adding non sequitur to the mix, huh?
Okay, to be clear: I ain’t saying he should get off with “a slap on the wrist,” ferchrissake, just that capital punishment–a shitty approach to justice at the best of times–is an exceptionally poor idea here, when there are other options that take the crime seriously without leading to what’d likely be mass slaughter of civilians.
And no Internet Tough Guy “Lock and Load” nonsense will change that.
But that’s all I’ll say on that, as it’s getting dangerously close to hijack territory.
Every time I think about Magats going all rebellion in a not so civil war is the Tet Offensive of 1968. The VC/PAVN expected the people to rise up and join them. Didn’t happen. The VC were virtually eliminated as a viable military force in the campaign. We had been complaining that they “wouldn’t come out and fight like soldiers.” There was a reason for that, because when they did they got erased.
Same same the Easter Uprising in Dublin. Yes, there would be casualties and unnecessary destruction, but we might be able to lance that boil for good.
What you quoted does not mean that.
But that’s all I’ll say on that, as it’s getting dangerously close to hijack territory.
Agreed. Mods, I apologize. No need to send a rocket.
Red-staters were well in the lead even before the vaccines became available. Which is really remarkable when you consider that diseases naturally spread faster in high-population-density areas. They were really going out of their way to get infected.
Even more remarkable, imo, is that even after having been infected, more than once, after being very very ill, even with long-Covid issues, they still sneer at the vaccine & are going out of their way to get infected again. These folks are a good illustration of how impossible it is to reach Trump supporters. As we’re now seeing in their response to the raid on Mar-a-lago, there is nothing that will shake up their mindset.

What would you suggest that would satisfactorily eliminate (in a political sense) Trumpism and the current flavor of conservatism? I’m not at all in favor of a violent answer, but his ability to dodge consequences is legendary.
Warning for octopus for deliberately trying to derail the thread.
As you had nothing to add, I’m also instructing you to no longer post in this thread.
