Fear Itself and Swingtown: Anyone Watch The Pilot Episodes?

They were both on Thursday, at the same time of course, but I had them on the DVR.

Finally got around to seeing them:

Swingtown - set in the 70’s and very much the “swingers scene” - pre-AIDs, etc. and not sure how this show will go. Sort of odd…but will see how the next episode is before deciding to continue taping, or dropping from DVR list. Not really caring much about the characters yet - not a good sign for a quasi-soap-opera show.

Fear Itself - sort of a new version of Twilight Zone/Outer Limits or any of those other weekly shows with a different cast and eerie story each week. The first episode was pretty good - great sets and a good cast and a story that kept you (morbidly) watching. Again, will have to see how the next episode is, but considering it will be a new cast and new story every week, this could be interesting.

Anyone else see one or both of the shows?

I watched it Friday night, and was entertained. Good weekend night viewing. Plus it’s always good to see Alma from Deadwood again.

Thank you Morbo! THAT’s where I recognized her from…I couldn’t place the show, but knew she was on something that I liked.

I DVRed Swingtown Thursday and watched it this morning. I too am hoping that next week is a little fuller, but they sure didn’t waste much time swinging into action, did they?
I’m hoping that we get to keep the old neighbors, and the husband gets sucked in, thats good soap. He didn’t look offended as his prudish wife at the very least. Very much enjoyed the look on her face when she walked into the basement.

I watched Fear Itself. Spooky atmosphere, decent story. I wasn’t overwhelmed, but I liked it.

Sort of like “Masters of Horror Lite”
Kinda liked the denouement of this episode, which if I remember correctly, is actually the third episode of the series.

I watched Swingtown and thought it was fairly boring. I got a definite sense they were using music to tell the audience about the characters instead of actually developing the characters. Once in any given episode that’s somewhat acceptable, but I felt like I was being repeatedly hammered over the head by cheesy 70’s music.
