Our office sends and receives perhaps 30 to 40 packages using the FedEx service. We have a regular delivery person in the morning, and one in the afternoon.
A customer service rep from FedEx generally calls before major holidays to be sure that someone will be here to receive packages and to save the pick up guy an unneccessary trip.
Our hours are 8:30am - 5:30pm M-F. Standard.
Of late, we’ve been receiving notices “we missed you” with a delivery attempt times of 7:01am or 7:10am. These packages are then returned and may not be redelivered until the next day.
What a waste of time and energy to continue to attempt to deliver packages to a business an hour and a half before the business opens. I just don’t get it.
I’m providing my opinion here, not a statement based on actual knowledge. I’d been under the impression that FedEx has special delivery folks who handle Priority Overnight packages, and so that individual wouldn’t necessarily be familiar with your business hours. That has certainly happened to us here in our office, and we open at 8am. My recollection from speaking with our regular FedEx delivery person is that the Priority Overnight guy may or may not swing back by at some point, depending on what his route is. Only once have I been successful in having their dispatch track the person down because I really needed the package.
Whatever the reason, I can sympathize with your being annoyed by that.
