Feel Good Friday: Today I Smiled Because (Your Replies Wanted)

I bought 2 loaves of bread from the local bakery this morning, fresh and hot out of the oven.

Garlic Cheddar and Cinnamon Raisin Oat.

Now my car smells like a bakery.

What an awesome coincidence, as I have an interview next week as well! It’d be a crazy commute, but it’d be worth it to be working again and in a job that’s a better fit.

So exciting! For as little interest as I have in being pregnant, I do enjoy chatting about pregnancy and babies and the fun aspects of children.

That is awesome. Little kids + zoo + good behavior = a spectacular day in my book.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow morning, when I shall go to watch the Fremont Solstice Parade, a truly unique event. The floats are all human-powered, and are not allowed to have any abstract symbols on them (so no corporate logos or silly slogans). Plus, it is preceded and intermingled with the famous body-paint-or-maybe-just-naked bike ride, which is something to see.

You can google your own photos, if you want to see previous years.

Yep. And 10 is the new fetus.

So I smiled today because my lunch was sooo good. Potatoes and onions fresh off the grill in the caf (it’s a big mama thing.)

I smiled because my coworker wore stripper shoes today, and she keeps doing little hot dances.
I smiled because the sales gods have been smiling on me today. Making some great bonuses.

My new washing machine gets delivered in an hour after our old one decided to empty water all over the laundry room last weekend. Shiny new stuff!

My new job means an across country relocation and all the stresses that go along with that and selling a house in the current market but it is a great deal for our little family and my husband talked to his new boss today and called me all excited about his new job and how much he liked his boss. Made me smile to hear him so excited and happy.

I have steaks marinading for supper and plans for a lazy weekend.

Lots of reasons to smile today

Excellent! Hope it’s a good week for us both!

Our insurance adjustor called to say he sent us a $5300 check to finish up the work in the basement. We’ll get our house back soon!

31? Heck, I feel 25! (Cause if we are going to change ages, I want to be 25!)

good food and friends are always fabulous together! And yay for clean offices - want to come clean mine?? pleez o pleez?? And yay for reconnecting with old friends. I have a friend that I speak spanglish with - and even when we don’t understand each other - it’s still good!

I love that story. It makes my uterus twitch. Usually only kittens do that!

sooooo jealous! I’m going to the Farmer’s Market tomorrow morning - I love the way the lavender and herbs make my car smell

rattling the chicken bones for you also!

That sounds so cool!

lunch, stripper shoes, and money? Where exactly do you work? :dubious: I hear brown chicken, brown cow . . .

Clean clothes, happy husband, and steak. That sounds like a Friday FULL of win!!

…because my kid is really, really loving the art class he’s taking at the local museum.

very nice!

I smiled because I hit some dynamite kill shots while playing racquetball at lunch, and won one of the 2 games we played.

And also because Green Lantern comes out today, and I haven’t been to a movie in ages.

I wish I had something to smile about, it’s been a crappy day.:frowning:

I want to see pics of his work!

I don’t know anything about racquetball, but I am going to see Green Lantern on Sunday with some friends - we’ll have to compare notes later!

You know what had me laughing today? A librarian I know posted this as her facebook status: regular patron just reported that a woman in the parking lot is rolling a lint roller all over the torso of a shirtless, tattoo-ed man and has been doing so for some time. Ah, the public library…

I’m happy because of

  • the lack of sports withdrawal; the CFL preseason started on the last day of the NHL finals, and the two overlap in the fall

  • I bought some new clothes this week that I love, and got a lot of items for a good price

  • tomorrow we are going to visit the inlaws and see my SIL’s baby boy, who is one week old today

  • my sister and her husband are settling in very well in their new city, she loves her new job and the hot-tub in her rental house is just a bonus

I am sorry about that. If I did your laundry in my shiny new washing machine would it help at all?

Love this thread by the way!

I like that what makes you smile is that other people in your family are smiling. Very cool!

Sorry about your crappy day! I hope it gets better. But you do have something to smile about – all of the people on this thread who are happy. Be happy for them and smile.

Nothing has made me particularly happy today, but reading about everyone else’s good fortune has definitely put a smile on my face.

Wait, I was wrong. I DO have something to be happy about. An old friend is returning to work at my company after a long absence. And I learned about that during my Friday-lunchtime D&D game, which always puts me in a good mood. :stuck_out_tongue:

I had to sit through an annual training on non-violent crisis intervention. Yes, it is as boring as it sounds. However, I had to giggle when the instructor was demonstrating what to do if someone grabs/pulls your hair. He’s bald.

What* do* you do if someone’s pulling your hair uninvited? I guess kicking them in the crotch wouldn’t be non-violent…

I regret to say that I cannot come clean yours. I have a commitment to get my office ACTUALLY in shape, and I gave myself a whole year to do it in. That’s how bad I am at dealing with the crap that accumulates in offices.

Now I want a card catalog. Somehow, I’m convinced it will make my life better by giving me places for some of those little bits of office flotsam. And be pretty. Alas, the office is also the tiniest room, so no space!
