What Makes Your Week - a because-I-was-awake MMP

So here I am at 4:24 am on the east coast of North America and wide awake, and rather than make Bobbio go through withdrawl while he waits for his morning caffeine to kick in, I grabbed a topic from gt’s list (the link is in her .sig)

So - NOT counting the end of your work (or other) week, what is it you look forward to on a regular basis?
I’ve made no secret of the fact the Thursday evenings are the highlight of my week. The family that is the ladies of the chorus is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever experienced. We cheer each others’ successes; admonish, with love, our “d’oh” moments; and support each other during sadness. One more than one occasion, a dearly departed has specified that Twin County has to sing at the wake. It’s humbling, when we do that. Sometimes, I barely knew the spouse or parent that has been lost, but sometimes, it’s a member (current or former) of the chorus that I’ve grown to love as blood.
And then there are the parties. We may not be champions, but we sure have fun. This week, Thursday brings the Officers Installation Dinner. We will sing, eat, and make light of the (air quotes) somber (/air quotes) ceremony. Oft times, the officiator will create a humorous version of it and try not to crack up while reading it.
So for me, Thursday evenings are the bright spot in an otherwise mundane and colorless week. How about you all?

Have a good week - Spring is finally here.

First!

Because it’s been covered already in the Death Pool, Osama Bin Laden is reportedly shot daid. I hope it was slow and painful…

ETA: To play along with the OP. I used to look forward to bambilance duty. Since VWife is being such a bitch about me joining the new squad, that’s academic now.

Interesting OP, rosie! I do look forward to Saturday because I get a lie-in and I get to wander round town doing errands and generally coming home with a sense of having achieved “something”, even if it’s only very small.

Aside from that, I suppose it would be Wednesday when the week’s half done and I go to the pub with a couple of friends. It’s a chance to get together for a drink and a chat, and just a break from the usual weeknight domestic routine.

So today is another public holiday for us, I will be washing the car and then later going to buy compost. Yesterday I picked up some potatoes already planted up in tubs, along with six tomato plants and a couple of pepper plants, and some dwarf runner bean seeds which all need to be planted. I have enough tubs for the tomatoes and peppers but I need extra compost for the runner bean seeds. While I’m out I might see what else the garden shop’s got and maybe put some herbs in a couple of tubs too. It can’t hurt, right?

Have a good Monday!

Oh, CP- a Jewish Star appliqué with “Jude” in it… Oy!

Yesterday was Yom Ha Shoah. As many of you know, my parents are survivors. There are precious few left as first account witnesses. Never Again.

We are in the last weeks coming up to my daughters bat mitzvah. Excited and crazed all at the same time!

To the OP: Thursday nights are my favorite. The anticipation if the weekend is tantalizing!
Happy Monday!

I don’t know what to wish y’all, but good vibes and sympathy nonetheless.

perhaps, unwittingly, there is now some significance with Bin Laden’s death attached to that day. . . . ?

Good Monday morning all! I’m up and caffeinating and have brekkied on strawberry oatmeal (with added flax! :D).

Didn’t get much sleep last night - there was a bit too much excitement, I guess. It’s all so unbelievable right now. It’s very probably been said already, but this seems like a defining moment so far in the Obama presidency and I think his ratings will go up quite a bit now. We’ll see, I guess.

Now, to the OP - and a great idea for one, btw, Rosie: right now, I’m actually looking forward to Sunday nights since I’m all caught up in the Game of Thrones series on HBO and The Killing on AMC. I have to chuckle because normally I dread Sunday night as the work week starts on the next morning! I’ve never read any of the books, but the series has really hooked me (Game of Thrones), btw.

Thinking of your parents, Soapy, and wishing your daughter a great bat mitzvah.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Good Morning Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 62 Amurrkin with a predicted high of around 88. Time to get that pool all warmed up Mr. Sunshine! So goeth the weather report from South Jawja.

I look forward to the Wednesday Evenin’ Evening Prayer service at good ol’ St. Pat’s. It’s a good mid-week centering thing for me. Mostly for me it’s so good at day’s end to come back to da cave, make dindin and see OYKW for a while. It’s just such a nice way to end the day. Obviously I look forward to Summer and Sattidy’s at the pool. It might be just us or it might be a crowd of folk. Always fun though!

Soapy we shall never forget. You’re parents do deserve to be honored. I’m sure it’s painful for them, but I hope they have told their story. Happy forthcoming Bat Mitzvah to daughter!

CP your soon will indeed look all kickass.

Rosie yeah, I see the significance of bin Laden’s death on that day especially.

Ok, I need more caffiene and tummy demands to be fed. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.

Happy Monday Y’all!

A very Happy Monday to all. AS to the MMP, I look forward to Kareoke Nights and Payday!

I look forward to Sundays because that’s my Hang Out With Culinary Boy Day. Awwww.

Speaking of, I accidentally turned the TV to CNN last night and since they were supposed to be showing a special on the Alzheimer’s epidemic, I was prepared to instantly change it back to Adult Swim. (Alzheimer’s is a bit triggery for me.) That’s how I found out about Bin Laden. I immediately ran upstairs to tell Culinary Boy. Considering that he was in the Army on 9-11, I figured he should know asap. He told me that when they were in the mess hall watching the towers fall, one of the commanding officers said, “You boys are going to go to war now.” He was glad that that part of the mission was accomplished. Please note: I willing watched Fox News because their video of the crowd in front of the White House was better than CNN’s. Someone was throwing a beach ball around. Really? Really?

It still feels weird to start the MMP on Monday. :stuck_out_tongue:

On one hand I got my portfolio revised and uploaded. On the other, that domain isn’t working because I had to do some technical-ly stuff so I have to go in tonight and fiddle with settings. I can get to it, I just have to go the long way.

The end of this week is going to be… special. My sister is coming down for my parents’ black belt graduation, with the two people she lives with. I don’t like my sister and last time I saw her we had a falling out (or rather I threw a stress & tiredness related tantrum about 11:30 New Years Night because she did the shit she always does. Which my mom keeps bringing up without noting that it was so late and I was stressed. No, it wasn’t mature, but give me a break).

On Saturday I’m supposed to have lunch with Rick, but that was supposed to happen last week so we’ll see. (He’s not usually flaky - things just came up)

I really don’t feel like working. I should probably start St John’s Wort again - I have to stop periodically because it eventually gives me really bad cramps. Actually what I should do is go to the doctor, get all the physicals I haven’t gotten in ten years, and get on a low dose of some anti-depressant. But that involves calling up an office, making an appointment, and going. (The going is the easy part)

I both anticipate and dread Sunday nights when I play trivia at a local bar. I’m usually pretty good, but the team puts a lot of pressure on me to get every question. Last night there were hockey questions (!?) We won, anyway. We got 25 out of 30.

Hubby couldn’t sleep last night, for some reason. He called in sick this morning. He’s asleep now, but he didn’t go down until about 4am. Of course, he kept me awake, since he wanted company. I might go back to sleep myself. Today is bill pay day, so I’m in no hurry to get started.

I’m also getting my White Elephant dressed for travel today. I don’t, yet know where she’s headed, but I’m sure she’ll have a good home.

White elephants deserve a good home picu.

Howdy from irk. I’m on lunch break. Heck, slow as it is y’all may see more of me this afternoon. A nice unstressful down day at irk is good sometimes, I reckon.

I shall see what else is a’ happenin’.

Later Y’all!

I prefer the entry on the Evil Overlord rules list: “Shooting is NOT too good for my enemies!” Or, it’s better for the enemy to die swiftly and with certainty than slowly, painfully, and with the possibility of a last-minute rescue. Plus with a confirmed death, you can take your time gloating.

Happy Monday!

Woke at a decent enough hour but I still can’t get free of the BOOGERS! My poor head is dripping non-stop. Only bothers me when I lie down though.

I’ve always had a weakness for Thursdays. That’s the night that on weeks when I get a ‘night out’, is my night out. Weak, huh?

Is that a night out from the boogers or do they come with you? :stuck_out_tongue:

I finally took my boogers to the doc-in-a-box and left with antibiotics and the not terribly comforting info that people generally survive their first year here without allergy problems, then they get clobbered on the second year.

Stupid trees.

I have to say it was much nicer waking up to the news today than last Firday. I’ve made the long-form death certificate joke enough that I no longer find it funny, but I expect Leno and Conan and the rest to toss it out. I gotta say, what impresses me more than anything was that it’s all been kept secret for so long. People actually followed the rules for protecting classified information and need to know. Good on 'em all! We’ve had leakers in the gov’t for far too long.

I look forward to weekends for obvious reasons. I trudge thru the rest of the week hoping to make it to Friday night, and so far, so good.

I did have a good email awaiting me today - my resume passed scrutiny by security - I didn’t say anything I wasn’t supposed to, so I’ve got it posted in a few places on the off chance that someone might hire me…

**BBBobbio **- too bad about the rescue squad. If my sweetie wanted to do that, I’d be really proud (and occasionally worried) - well except no since his bad back is an issue. No chance of VWife coming around?

Happy Monday. blech.

Ding dong, bin laden’s dead!

My look-forward-to during the week is always Wednesday evening, when my #3 daughter and I sit together and watch Criminal Minds. It is the one hour of television I watch uninterrupted, and yet I always simultaneously record it as it is, invariably, interrupted.

I am going to get pots and soil for my deck, and then the plants to, well, plant! :stuck_out_tongue: My apple trees are blooming, and I have found my camera. Honest, photos soon!
