In The Karate Kid, during the scene where Danny and Ali go out on their first date at the amusement park, the song “Feel the Night” by Baxter Robertson plays in the background. You can hear the song in this clip - it begins roughly at 3:05.
I was searching for this song on Youtube and I found this version of it, set to clips from The Karate Kid. But there is something drastically wrong with this version of it. It sounds superficially the same, but you’ll notice - if you compare the two versions - that the female voice is absent from the latter version! That voice is what makes the song good, so without it, it takes a major dive in quality.
What I want to know is, which one is the original version, and which one is the alternate take? Was the version with the female voice recorded specifically for the movie, since it’s a male-female duet which complements the date scene that it’s used in? And who is the female singer?
The female voice is Liza Nemzo
The female voice is Liza Nemzo
Thanks for the info. How did you know?
Damn it, the link to the movie version of the song in my OP has now expired. Here is a new Youtube link where you can watch the scene I am talking about. Listen carefully, then compare with the other version.
Whoa!! I totally do NOT remember THAT version!! How the hell I missed that is baffling considering how many times I’ve seen the movie. Ok, welllll…hearing that consciously now, I personally still love what I’ve come to know as the original track as it is, without the voice. Saying that it takes a dive, well I mean I guess I can see how one might feel that way. It does add… something to the song. Just my opinion, it does fine without it. Thanks for posting this though! I completely missed that!
Also, why the bloody hell are there no videos of the original artist performing his famous track?? It’s the same with almost all the artists on the OMPS (original motion picture soundtrack) with the exception of Bananarama and Survivor. Kinda sucks!
Somebody watched Cobra Kai last night.
I’ll admit, I wasn’t expecting that ending!
