I didn’t put this in the pit because it’s not a flame and I don’t want to be flamed, and I didn’t put it in GD because there is no debate.
But for those of us who are seriously sad and sorry and ashamed, this is a great site to read and to contribute to. It will give you hope and break your heart all at once.
As a Democrat who agrees with most of the sentiments expressed, may I just add that Jesus, there are a lot of ugly, badly dressed Democrats who can’t spell or punctuate!
It’s extremely hard
To say in haiku format
How sorry I am that America and the world will have to put up with four more years of tyrrany, and yet frustrated that a good 51% of our neighbours to the south insist on digging their own (and everybody else’s) hole a little deeper.
So I won’t bother.
Eve, I humbly submit that a reasonable chunk of the world’s population is either ugly or functionally illiterate. Hey, I fit into one of those categories.
I voted for Kerry and even though I don’t want to apologize to the world I hope they do understand that 49% of us do not like the direction the US has taken in the last 4 years.
Neither of the following two scenarios fill me with optimism and faith in America:
a) The election was honest and above-board and the majority of voters voted for George W. Bush, thereby endorsing what he’s done in office, meaning that our freedom is threatened by our fellow citizens who appear to be embracing imperialism and theocracy; or
b) The election was stolen, meaning that our government is in the hands of people more dangerous to our freedom than all the world’s terrorists put together, and also meaning that they aren’t likely to sit back and let the story come to light and result in a groundswell movement to oust them.
I am so glad I don’t have kids to worry about. I would not want to be raising them with all this to be concerned about, this and where it might be headed.
