Festival of the Dope Persuasion (Bay Area) Nov. 3rd

Well, we’re a maybe but I’ll toss in my suggestions anyway.

November 3rd - Saturday
**
Jack’s Cannery Bar **(near Fisherman’s Wharf )- website yelp

The place is large and has been pretty much empty every time I’ve been there. It’s near public transit (Muni/Street car/Cable car, though not BART) and the parking is pretty easy in that area.

I second psycat recommendation for Jack’s. It’s awesome for a group like ours.

Oh, and since it’s been basically empty every time I’ve been there, it’s been quiet. Much, MUCH more quiet than The Chieftan.

85 beers on tap, though honestly, only a handful are even worth trying or drinking. I’m not sure about the mixed drinks. I think I had a Long Island Iced Tea there once and was less than thrilled with it. Not sure about their margaritas.

11/3 at Jack’s sounds good to me. Something quieter than last time (The Chieftan) would be great, I couldn’t hear anyone who wasn’t right next to me.

I’m coming from the East Bay (El Cerrito) and will be happy to be a designated driver if anyone wants to carpool.

WHAT!?

I’m cool with Jack’s on the 3rd as well, but I’m still open for other options if that is a dealbreaker for some people.

I like this jacks on the 3rd Why are you people not bolding your dates? Am I talking to myself?

11/3 at Jack’s sounds good to me.

I’m eager to try the Deschutes Obsidian (on Nitro too!). I’ve been looking everywhere for that beer. Ok, i haven’t been looking that hard, but still.

Actually, the classic “bridge and tunnel” of the SF Bay Area is the Bay Bridge and the Caldecott Tunnel; folk from Concord, Pleasant Hill, and Walnut Creek come to the City when they think they’re too cool for Spin Ultra.

Here’s the Google Street View link to Jack’s. I don’t wanna hear anyone else asking for directions this time, dammit.

Maybe I’m just not “urban” enough, but what does “bridge and tunnel” refer to and what is it supposed to mean?

And here I was led to believe that DopeFests aren’t all about bars / drinking… Every one of the listed options for meeting is a bar!

It’s usually just because those are convenient places with a lot of seating and no need to make reservations for a group of uncertain size. I’m not much of a drinker, but I’ve found that some of the best places in terms of food and atmosphere are the bar & grill places, at least in the Bay Area.

People who live in Manhattan always bitch about the knuckle-dragging trogdolytes who inundate Manhattan every weekend from the other boroughs or New Jersey via the bridges and tunnels, so us San Franciscans decided to do the same for our own trogdolytes*.

Damn, psycat, you’re a bridge-and-tunneler twice over!
*-Lack of bridge/tunnel notwithstanding, San Mateans are not exempt.

Bridge and Tunnel

You know, I lived in Central Jersey most of my life and spent my weekends at the clubs and bars in Manhattan.

Now I live in the North Bay and spend many weekends in SF.

I’m bridge and tunnel and have been all my life I suppose. Whatever.

I’m not exactly sure what lobstermobster is saying she’s afraid of however.

Phew, I guess I’m in the clear then, since I just drive up the peninsula, no bridges involved. :stuck_out_tongue: But that doesn’t make sense, since lobster would be going in the opposite direction as the troglodytes, unless you’re claiming that Palo Alto is a more hip and happening place than San Francisco…in which case, thanks!

Geesh, you sound like my SO there.

Yup. And if you call me a trogdolyte again, I will smack you with a fish.

Is it one of those fish that swim up from Monterey to visit SF on the weekends?

November 3rd works for me. I don’t have any issues with bridges or tunnels. I draw the line at snakes and ladders, though.
