I need some outside opinions. I play in a Yahoo league with standard scoring. I’ve got Kevin Kolb and Derek Anderson as my quarterbacking options. I consider Kolb my starter and Anderson my backup.
On paper, though, Anderson’s matchup looks better. He’s an experienced gunslinger with talented receivers against a bad St. Lo defense, while
Kolb is a relative newbie up against a very good Green Bay defense.
On the other hand…
Kolb’s offense is pass happy with several good receiver options. Green Bay is missing Atari Bigby and Al Harris at corner, which could open things up significantly. The pass rush is still intact, though. If Green Bay pulls ahead by a couple of scores, Kolb could wind up throwing a lot of balls. That could be very good or very bad.
I have a suspicion that Arizona will run early and often against St. Lo because they can. If they can dominate the game that way, then Anderson might not get a lot of throws, and the throws he gets will be the short/medium variety. This would not be his strong suit.
I don’t know what to think. I don’t really like either situation, but I’ve got to pick one. If I can’t decide, I’ll probably go with Kolb because I don’t trust Derek Anderson not to make a mess of things. Please help.
Quite. I started several bad choices this week. Kolb over Anderson and Lee Evans over Mike Williams in Tampa Bay. Wes Welker has saved my ass thus far, now I can only hope Shonn Green has a better game than Todd Heap tonight.
