As part of the FHRITP (fuck her right in the pussy) trend with journalists (many or most of whom are female), an Ontario soccer fan who participated in that and was identified (Breaking News, Headlines and Stories | National Post) lost his $107,000 job with Ontario hydro. There are varying opinions about whether it was appropriate that he be fired.
Men and women, if this fellow was your co-worker and worked in an adjacent or nearby office or cubicle would you want him to stay or be gone?
“The man, dressed in the garb of a Toronto FC supporter, was not the man directly responsible for interrupting the broadcast, but he was recorded laughing on the sidelines as it occurred.”
I’m confused by the report. Did the guy fired say anything or was he just with some people who did?
Professionalism is one of my fetishes. What this encompasses does vary based on poistion and circumstances, but many behaviours which are perfectly aceptable in one context are firable offences at work.
That being said, he should be fired for being a dick in public.
Provided he wasn’t obviously associated with his employer (e.g., wearing company uniform) then I wouldn’t want him fired. I’d think he was an idiot and if it later became public who he worked for I’d expect him to be counselled but not fired.
The guy didn’t just laugh at it. He also said “fucking” to her a couple of times on live TV. “I don’t fucking care. You’re lucky there isn’t a fucking vibrator in your ear.”
Fuck him and his job. I wouldn’t work with an asshole like that.
In the case tat inspired the OP, the employment status of the idiot was quickly uncovered. In the case of my company this could bring disgrace upon our company and so he would have to be terminated, albeit probably with a severance package.
I don’t see the relation between the guy’s behaviour in public and his employer. He’s not a politician or any kind of public figure. There should be some kind of punishment, and I hope there are laws that can be applied to this case; but I don’t see that it gives his employer the right to fire him.
Not voting because the options are too “either/or”. I’m a man and I would not be particularly concerned either way. It’s vulgar and immature, but there are plenty of things I do on my days off that I’d prefer my employer not know about.
In fact, when asked, on camera with audio, he said he thought it was “fucking hilarious”, he repeated it several times. Including when asked what his Mom might think!
Asked for a response to his firing for this episode, I have to believe anyone who’s seen it is probably going to go with ---- “It’s fucking hilarious!”
He leaves no room to believe he posses even a modicum of maturity, discretion, professionalism, wisdom, etc. Who would be willing to trust this man to make sound decisions? Who’s going to ask their female employees to interact with him, share space etc?
They didn’t shoot him, he’ll work again, I’m certain.
I’d be more offended for him using such an old and busted meme. It was funny for about five minutes a year ago, then was sucked dry by everyone bleating it over and over to seem edgy.
I should point out that I feel slightly better about Jameis Winston now that I know that FHRITP is “a thing.” Until now, I thought he jumped up on a table at FSU and yelled about pussy for no reason (rather than for a stupid reason.)
