Field of Daisies (a Harnic RPG)

OK, everyone is back at the cottage. Lern has agreed to show you where the cave is. His parents and Narus will go with you.

You are led down a road past some more fields, with a pasture on your right with lots of cattle, and the field of daisies on your left. All of the farmers stop their work to watch you pass. You head off of the road and into the woods. You continue to go uphill and deeper into the woods. You come to a bit of a steep cliff.

As the wind blows, you hear an eerie deep moaning above you. Lern and his parents are visibly shaken by it. Even Narus seems spooked.

Lern points to a space on the cliff. It’s hard to see, but there is an opening about 8 feet up. With the aid of some thin tree trunks, you could climb up.

Lern and family hightail it out of there.

I’ll climb it if I can.

OK.

It’s not an easy climb, and you nearly slip and fall a couple of times.

You get up high enough to where you can crawl in the hole if you want. The opening is about 4’x4’, so you would pretty much have to crawl or stoop to get in. Grasses, roots, and dirt (or rather, mud) line the opening. It smells faintly like poop in there. And it’s dark. You hear something flapping… wings? Whatever it is, it sounds tiny.

I’ve added an OOG thread here.

“Is there a way to let us all up there? Bork bork bork!”
If not, Ingmar will try to climb up there, with his weapon/shield strapped on his back.

You tries the climbink, but gets Eren’s shoos in yer face. Maybee puts his footings on your shorlderss to boost hims oop? Or maybee you fals doun?

“I don’t suppose any of us brought a rope, eh?”

Attempts to climb to the cave.

Nope. Nor a ladder. Nor torches.

With Eren half hanging out of it? Your head will just hit his shoes.

I’ll wait until the rush has cleared and get out my hand axe before climbing. I hope things open out after the entrance. I’ll also call up to ask about conditions before going up. No sense bothering if the thing just goes back ten feet.

I’m going to use my temporary sense improvement. If improving my sight would help me see in the dark, I want to do that. If it’s just too dark to see, I want to improve my hearing.

(and if I have to climb back down to do it properly I’ll do that)

Uhh, I have the torches that the lord gave me. Right? Am I with the group? if so . . .

“Why don’t you guys use one of my torches to crawl back and see if there is room for us all to fit in side the cave? If there is not I suggest that Cella be part of the party that enters her skills might be useful.”

Symon uses his flint and steel to light one of the torches and passes it up to Eren.

Improved eyesight won’t help you to see in the dark any more than a decent pair of glasses would. The darkness would just be a little more in focus.

Improved hearing? Yes, you’ll need to crawl back down.

“Alakazam, walla walla, siss boom bah, SNEEZE” – The spell failed, and now you have one fatigue level. Try again?

You guys have two torches. One is now lit.

Symon will hand the torch to some one else to hold and then climb up to the cave and get the torch handed back to him. He’ll crawl in trying to see if there is enough room for the group to fit before coming out to report his findings.

“You’d better check to see if there are any bears in there. They’re giant, marauding, godless killing machines.”

No, I’ll just wait my turn and climb up again. Hopefully my high Awareness will be good enough.

Why you little monkey! Not only did you climb up with ease, but you looked fantastically graceful while doing so.

Your climbing skill just went from 48 to 49.

You are handed the torch and have a look. No bears.

It’s a tight squeeze, but once you get past the entrance, the floor slopes down good deal, giving some head room. The tunnel goes straight back (and down) for at least 20 feet. The inner surfaces are all solid rock.

Symon will head back to the entrance and let everyone know it looks like there is room. He also requests that Cella be behind him incase her special skills are required. Symon is then going to head back into the cave and continue exploring making sure the second torch is ready incase the first burns out.

Well, up we go, everyone.

Cella’s next.

She climbs almost all the way up, then pulls a move that Chevy Chase would be proud of. Her fall results in a minor injury to her left knee.

Lifting each other up and pulling people into the cave, you all manage to get in, though Gered makes it take a little longer than it has to.

You’re all in.

Marching order? It’s single file for now.
