Ingmar will draw his axe and wait near the South Door. (In such a way that if the South door opens on it’s hinges, he would not be easily seen at first).
“Do not fear liddle one. Ingmar the Toymakerrrr and his freinds are here to help joo. Bork Bork Bork!” he whispers before he takes his position to cover the door, hoping someone will take the Knife before then.
Symon closes the door behind the group. He gives the kid a reassuring smile on the way to the chest and searches it for any traps and assuming it’s clean opens it up and searches through the contents.
"Good news the weapon is safely locked away we don’t have to worry about easy access. I don’t think we should split up and search those doors. I also think that only searching one at a time may get us attacked from behind.
Let’s just take the boy a get out of hear. We can always return to punish the offender later. . . We should probably take the chest as well."
I’ll go with the majority, but my vote is to stay and investigate. There’s somebody here who kidnapped and bound this kid and apparently threatened him with some kind of valuable weapon; I think it bears a resolution.
I’d say getting the boy out is the first priority. It would be a good idea to get a glimpse of “Him”, though, just in case he’s one of the regular villagers. Unless the boy knows his name.
“Cella? Can you ask him if “He” is from the village? Maybe get a name?”
I’ll watch the east door. And I like Ingmar’s idea, so I’ll be standing on the hinge side. Does it open in or out?
You guys are making a fair amount of noise yourselves. Shushing the weeping kid up while he devours your food supplies and you discussing what hinges you might hide behind is creating a fair amount of soundwaves. Even those with superior hearing would have trouble listening through stone.
I think we should return the kid to town, but maybe we should leave part of the party guarding the entrance to this place until the others return from bringing the kid back. We don’t want whoever he is to escape.
I think by the cave entrance would be much better. We don’t know what all lies in the cave and where it is and all the ways it can get from place to place. It could be all to easy for any we leave behind to be overwhelmed. Particularly in a room with three entrances.
The cave entrance would provide a much better chokepoint, and since the villagers seemed to have no clue about what was going on, I doubt that the things that lurk in here leave very often if ever.
Edit: Not to mention that we want to make sure the kid gets out of the cave safely, and the more we have escorting him out of here, the better.
Ingmar sighs- “I will stay behind too. I do not mind… BorkBorkBork… I have no family at home to worry for me… anymore. I do not be mindink this task. Perhaps we can fall back to the room with the Mushroomies?”
