Field of Daisies (a Harnic RPG)

“I’m for the common room and a bite before bed. Same inn as last time.”

You stay at the inn again tonight.

The next day you wake up to no rain, but everything is wet. The sky is overcast and the humidity is around 300%.

What are you going to do with the chest? It looks quite valuable.

“We should give the chest to Sir Mayald, I think.”

“I don’t understand why we should give the Chest away. After all we were the ones who undertook this journey for no payment. I think it would only be right if we sold it and each took and equal share. If you want to give your share to Lord Mayald that is your prerogative but I have need of funds to continue my search for a new master.”

Is there anything written on it or in it? Could Ingmar look for sliding panels?

Just being suspicious.

Nothing written on it, and you don’t see any secret panels. The craftsmanship is extraordinary, especially in the metal work. The wood has a lot of rot, but the metal is untarnished. The lock and key are more complicated than any you’ve seen, and work perfectly.

“I agree with Symon. If the chest belongs to anyone it would be Tarwal. And since Tarwal seems to be guilty of nothing more than binding and gagging a child who would have likely gotten both of them killed, I don’t see why Sir Mayald has any claim to it. I think we need to ask Tarwal about the chest.”

Tarwal mentioned that he found the chest in the caves, so he didn’t bring it himself. Since it was found on Sir Mayald’s lands, he may have a legitimate claim to it. But those aren’t really his lands, he’s holding them in trust for the Earl.

This could turn out to be an interesting legal situation.

And there’s no feeling of evil from the thing, right?

None.

“Well, do with it what you want. I still think it’s better that we talk with Sir Mayald about it. If you want to ask for it as a bounty for recovering the boy, capturing the man, and disposing of the weapon, he may well be inclined to let you keep it.”

“We could do that. More than that . . . well, I don’t really want to get into an argument with my brother’s lord.”

Are you having this discussion at the inn or on the road?

Let’s have it over breakfast.

And after breakfast, hitting the road?

Yes. Unless everyone decides to try to sell the box here in town. I think we should take it back, but I’m not going to argue too strenuously against selling it.

Are you guys able to read this thread without signing up for membership?

I can see it.

So it looks like keeping the chest might not be an option.

I can see it as well and with that in mind.

"Lord Mayald did not seem to have any interest in the chest only in the artifact if he wanted to keep it he probably would have given us a different chest in which to carry the knife.

Seeing as we probably won’t be able to get its true value in such a small hamlet why don’t we sell the chest here? We can divide up the money and if Lord Mayald is interested in the item we can present him with the coin. If he doesn’t mention it we could go our separate ways with out any difficulty."
