“I disagree. Since the chest isn’t ours, we don’t have the legal standing to even sell it. Granted I agree with you if we are allowed to keep the chest, but for now, our hands are tied until an official decision has been made on the chest.”
Once he calms down, Tarwal may consider claiming the chest. There’s a good chance it’s either his or Mayald’s. Interested or not, Mayald may not be pleased to find we’ve sold it out of hand, once his mind turns to it. Lords can be finicking where their preerogatives are concerned.
Best not to annoy Authority, I say. Take it back, so it’s available if he asks. You could maybe leave it with your stuff and see if anyone remembers it, if you like, but that’s as much as I’m comfortable with.
Looks like Cella wants to give the chest to Mayald, but won’t argue, while Eran thinks that Tarwal has a better claim. Gered and I lean toward turning it over and letting others sort it out. Symon wants to sell it, and Ingmar doesn’t care either way, although if it’s sold, he wants his share.
"Sounds like we only have one strong vote for selling it, so that’s out. We can argue whether to turn it over and who to on the road.
"Don’t get me wrong, though. Tarwal owes us big time for getting his ass out of that place. And Mayald owes us for saving the kid and destroying the evil knife. So I believe we are entitled to a hefty portion of what that chest is worth, however, what is legal and what is proper don’t always mesh. Ultimately, it’s going to be Mayald’s decision.
“Regardless, we did save a child, so even if we get nothing for our troubles, we at least can take comfort that we did a good thing…But good deeds don’t put food in your stomach.”
Gered will acknowledge the various hugs, handshakes, etc. but will try to find the Lord and make a beeline for him (as long as Symon goes along with him of course).
