Finding local happenings

These boards are great for getting input, information, motivation, amusement, etc from people far and wide! Now, is there also a good way to find past threads about certain areas–New Orleans, say–when people have “gathered together” to chat about the place and/or things going on there? A thread called “New Orleaneans Want To Chat?” might work for starters, but is there a way to find other similar discussions that have already happened?

I’m a newbie here myself (on the SDMB), so I don’t know these things yet. :wink:

Click the Search button up there at the top right, and enter the terms you want to search for in the form provided, and change the date to Any Date, then click submit. Be aware you can not search on words of three characters or less.

Yes, thanks. Did that and got 2,000+ hits. I’ll try to improve my search techniques once I can tear my eyes away from all the good reading in the threads I’ve gotten. With all my laughing, the neighbors are probably wondering what’s going on at my house.
