Once upon a time - ie, until about four days ago - I never had to log into any of the sites I regularly visit, because I have cookies enabled.
Now, for some mysterious reason, my cookies have stopped working. I have to log into everything. Some sites - like Facebook and gmail - have my log-in and password already filled in when I go to their sites, but I still have click “log in” and clicking the “remember me” box isn’t doing anything. The SDMB doesn’t remember who I am at ALL and I have to log in every single time.
WTF is happening, y’all? I still have cookies enabled, and this is getting pretty annoying.
P.S. I am using Windows Vista if that makes a difference.
One thing you might try is to goto the privacy tab under Tools and Options and if you have “Always clear my private data when I close FF” checked, then click Settings and make sure Cookies isn’t checked.
Did you purge your cookies some other way – did you use registry cleaners or spyware removers like ccleaner, or spybot, or some others. They have the option of cleaning away cookies from IE and Firefox. Did you recently install a beta version of Firefox? I have had it once forget to transfer settings from my old version.
I had this problem awhile ago. I came across this. Deleting all my cookies fixed it, but if that doesn’t work, there’s a couple more suggestions there.
