Firefox update affects Reddit?

I have never had any issue with viewing Reddit until I allowed a Firefox update a few weeks ago. Now Reddit will often freeze when trying to scroll down. It usually frees up after a minute but occasionally I have to end Firefox. Another request to update arrived so I installed it hoping it might be something that was improved but it didn’t. I am now at Firefox 104.0.2 on Windows 10. I wonder if this is a Firefox problem or Reddit. Any suggestions?

Just for a point of clarity: are you using “new” Reddit or “old” Reddit? They have different browser-side scripting so which you’re using may affect how Firefox behaves.

Oddly, my Reddit (“new”) acts that way with Edge. I have a Firefox icon I use exclusively to browse Reddit.

mmm

I’m going to assume you’re using new Reddit, as old Reddit doesn’t do any fancy scrolling.

The only thing that comes to mind that you could easily fix is to check and see if you have RES (Reddit Enhancement Suite) installed. That was really designed to work with old Reddit, so it might mess up on new Reddit. You can also try the basics like clearing your Reddit cookies.

And, as a workaround, you can use https://old.reddit.com instead, and get the old interface back.

I’m seeing weirdness with the Firefox update also. I get a link to the New Yorker crossword every day. It used to work fine, but now the site refuses the link. The link works fine in Chrome.
And Firefox mysteriously closes the Yahoo mail tab whenever I save something. I can restore it, but it’s a pain.
All this started a few weeks ago. I’ve been too busy to research it. I’ve gotten one update since then with no improvement.
