All of the quotes you posted just seem like standard “rude teenage fast food worker” to me.
Unless the OP did and just didn’t know it. I mean, it looks like they never got any clarity about who the manager or their daughter was. After all, they said:
That, or they don’t remember. Sometimes, a person will say or do something that greatly offends a person without even knowing. I’m sure every one of us, at some point in our lives, has pissed off someone to an extreme degree without even being aware of it. It’s too easy for that to happen. Maybe even from a misunderstanding.
Firehouse John, I’m in love with your daughter
Yeah the one, with the sandwich eyes
At least two of the three employees who served him, plus the manager.
The first employee was just rude. The second employee claimed the manager said something but could just be making it all up.
And again, they refused to let the manager come out and speak with the OP.
There’s a clear implication in the narrative that the “I know you are” comment was connected to the violation of the manager’s daughter. Or are you suggesting that these two highly unusual interactions are in fact not connected at all, and just coincidentally occurred in succession in the same establishment?
Anyway, I don’t need to get into back and forths about the details- this story is obviously a fabrication, either intentionally created or delusionally imagined. Either way, it didn’t happen as reported.
Guys prove again and again (including in some threads here) that they can have creepy interactions with women without ever realizing that the interactions are creepy.
♫ Firehouse John, you’ve got a lovely daughter,
♫ Girls as sharp as her are somethin’ rare.
♫ But it’s sad, she doesn’t love me now
♫ She’s made it clear enough, it ain’t no good to pine.
♫ She wants no return of the Sammich I bought from her
♫ Tell her she can keep it just the same
♫ Things have changed, she spat on it (wow)
♫ She runs that crappy shop like that Pedo Cook named Dane…
I’m unfamiliar with the OP’s history, but he/she has been a registered member for 15 years. Do they have a track record of making posts designed to elicit attention like this?
Assuming the story is somewhat true, the first employee could have been the manager, who then walked back and told the other employee(s) to tell the OP to f- off. No conspiracy, just an interaction driven entirely by one person’s case of mistaken identity.
But…
There’s a subset of people who make shit up, then write letters to Corporate or post false reviews on Google with the intention of getting free food. And as you note, it usually works.
I was wondering the same thing.
Would like to see an update in response to some of the comments.
Just to clarify, I don’t assume the story is true, and I am approaching this whole thing as a hypothetical.
But you might be right that the first person may have been the manager, as that would explain their initial comment and rudeness. Though apparently in the OP’s story that was never made clear. In this story, that would explain how the manager knew the OP was there in the first place.
Two stories related to this (I will try to keep them brief). On the podcast Office Ladies, Jenna Fischer (who played Pam on The Office) told a story about one of her jobs she had before she had success in Hollywood. She worked for a soda company that she would not name (though I got the impression that it was Coca-Cola), and her job was to work a complaints line. Everyone who called, no matter what, she got their information and would send them a coupon for free soda. The circumstances didn’t matter. It could absolutely be used as a way to regularly get free soda, and the company didn’t care. They just cared about PR and they figured the minimal cost was worth it.
On a more personal story, when I was a computer salesman, one of my repeat customers owned a local Pizza Hut franchise. And he told me that any time I ordered pizza, make a complaint and the pizza was free. He said that to me as advice. As the guy who ran the freaking franchise. His suggestion was to just complain with every order and I’d always get free pizza. I asked why he would say that to me, and he said that corporate covered it and it was no loss to him. I thought that was fucking bizarre, but that’s what he said.
Even though I was extremely poor back then, as in living in poverty poor (no exaggeration) I never tested it. It felt too much like I was scamming people out of free pizza, even though the guy who ran the place literally told me I should do it. I just couldn’t bring myself to lie to people. But he insisted it would have worked, and I guess if anyone would know, he would.
There was a fast food Chinese place where I would go on occasion that was part of a chain. I would order a main and an appetizer. The manager told me to just order the main and then there would be a code on the receipt for a free appetizer and I could use that and get it for free. She gave the same advice to other people when I was there. The would routine played out again two weeks later. Shortly after that the place closed down. I speculate that the manager knew about the imminent closure and didn’t give a fuck anymore.
I’ve got a funny feeling that the ‘owners’ (?) were f-cking that manager over re: pay and bonuses. It’s actually a decent reason to mention things like that.
There used to be a great tire place by me. The manager was a really nice guy and did good work, but he had some back and leg issues. He did all the hours and glad-handed all the customers but he was in severe pain all day. I asked him why he didn’t have a stool ( or a chair ) to sit on between customers just so he could rest his back. His employers < spit > said “sure you can bring one. But we might remove it from your shop before you open the next day.”
I always thought that that was a total violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act… but he was told that since it was a Right The Work State, that he would never see a dime.
Were they lying f-cks? Well he died the next year so who knows.
This is not necessarily true. It only takes one employee to claim to recognize the OP and tell the others, who will likely believe it. Its easier for one employee to be mistaken than two.
OK, can somebody here just call the store, ask to speak to the manager, and try to get to the bottom of this?
Yeah…”hey, I saw on the internet about how you kicked a guy out for something unsavory. Care to comment to me, a rando calling you out of the blue?”
Seems like the question might be “Who do you think I am?”
Clearly they confused you with the person who swiped your sandwich and gave you the one intended for him.
With few exceptions, this poster appears to have a history of never returning to threads that they start. So if anyone is holding their breath waiting for a response, you can probably go ahead and let it out.
