I did. I have no idea what I’m doing. Let’s go!
Draft is in about an hour. I’ll pop on the discord server in about a half hour to help anyone who is having trouble with it
Well, that was interesting. And fun.
Is there an easy way to share my roster with my friends so they can tell me what a dumass I am?
The league is public so you can just give them the link to your roster
That’ll work, thanks!
Well, I went full on studs and duds for this. Hopefully it works out.
My team name is the same as my Dope name, as is that of SenorBeef. But for the other 11 teams, I have no idea which Doper owns which team. Is there a way to find out, or could such a list be posted?
If that’s not possible, no big deal. Just curious.
Mundi Morning Bloodletting here
Wilson = Wilson
Hamlet Antionette = Hamlet
Omni-Wan Kenobi = Omniscient
Justin’s Baileys = Justin Bailey
I totally flaked on the draft time and my team was autodrafted. Understandably, Yahoo likes my team… I actually think it isn’t too bad.
Mine is Country Roads Take Mahomes.
Thanks, all!
Yeah, it’s ranked #1 in our league. Not bad at all!
I’m 65 Toss Power Trap
I’m Player 456
I feel really good about my team, which likely means I’m doomed. I came in wanting a top RB (Gibbs, check), and targeted a couple of other RBs a few tiers down. Jones was a bit of an audible, but I like him. And one of my WAS RBs will emerge - I just hope it’s soon
My top QB target was off the board way higher than I expected, and I was thrilled to get Baker for $7. Non-top tier QBs are all very similar in value, but Baker puts up big numbers.
My one regret was not putting a few more bucks into get top WR. They all seemed just out of reach for what I wanted to spend. I made up for it in bulk Tier 2/3 WRs. Brown/Pickens/Sutton/Waddle/Rice will always have 3 good/great options to choose from.
I’m Frosty Snow Joke
This me.
It will be short. It will be sweet. It will be wrong. It will be right. It will, at the very least, waste a few minutes of your time. But since I have a bit of time before tomorrow’s He Hate Me league draft, I figured I’d do a quick draft review for this new league. Keep in mind, this is my second ever guillotine league and it’s been a hot minute since I’ve done an auction draft, so take everything I say as the ramblings of a old man shaking his fist at the contrails in the sky. But I hope you enjoy it.
So here we go:
Mundi Morning Bloodletting
Best pick: CeeDee Lamb for $62 was good value after the insane Chase overpay, but I really loved the value Keon Coleman at $3 gave you. Phenomenal
Worst pick: In the vast RB wasteland between Kenneth Walker and $2 scrubs, I thought you overpaid for Meh. James Connor and Isiah Pacheco are both, to me, on the downside of their careers and were a bit more expensive than I would have been comfortable with.
Overall: Very good depth and some high floor players will make sure Mundi isn’t eliminated quickly, but without some waiver wire pickups, the ceiling for this team is pretty low.
Yours Truly Dr. Zoeller
Best pick: Went studs and scrubs, but they did a very good job getting the scrubs. In particular, Ollie Gordon for $2 and Tet McMillian (who I love) for $13 were great picks.
Worst pick: Spending over a third of your budget on one player, even if it is Justin Jefferson, concerns me greatly. One bad game and it’s game over. Best hope for no bad games. And to combine it with a metric shitton of rookies tells me it’s all or nothing.
Overall: In this case, I’d bet the nothing. If Tet and Ricky Pearsall come around quick, maybe they’ll be able to avoid an early exit, but if just one thing goes wrong, it could be over quick.
Country Roads Takes Mahomes
Best pick: This fucker outbid me on two guys I had tagged as great values at their ADP, so fuck him. None of their picks were good. They suck. He sucks. The whole system sucks!!! … But, if I’m honest, I loved the strategy of building a solid starting lineup with mid-tier guys to avoid an early exit.
Worst pick: Jordan Love at $11 was inflated, as was Marvin Harrison Jr at $29. But Treyveon Henderson going for $22 was, to me, insanely overpaying for a shared time at best rookie RB. I know it’s exciting to see a preseason special teams TD, but he seems more like a Travis Etienne than a Bijan Robinson to me.
Overall: If I liked TreyVeon and Bucky Irving, I’d love this team. But I don’t, so I don’t. I do not see an early exit because of the depth of talent, but I think a weak RB crew will stop this team from going really deep. Then I can fucking get Ridley and Jaymo. Jerk.
65 Toss Power Trap
Best Pick: Loved Trevor Lawrence/Baker Mayfield for $3 and $7. $10 for a position to play the matchups was great. Courtland Sutton for $9 and Austin Ekeler for $3 was amazing too.
Worst pick: I love Jahmyr Gibbs. He made me a lot of money last year. He’s young, talented, and on a high scoring team. But oof, he was way too costly. Rashee Rice I can’t really blame you, but it didn’t turn out so well.
Overall: I really like this team. Despite the huge spending on Gibbs, the team made it up getting great values with the rest of the draft. There are questions, but, by and large, I think this is one of the strongest teams in the league. Congrats.
Senor Beef
Best Pick: Chuba at $19 was good, and Dobbins for $2 was great. Josh Allen, JK Dobbins, this team has “his guys”. More importantly, I liked the strategy of getting the cream at your oners (QB and TE), then building the starters with mid tier guys. Great thought.
Worst Pick: Breece Hall at $24 is scary, and $51 for Ashton Jeanty is terrifying. High risk/High reward though.
Overall: I think this team did a good job filling in their starters with enough talent, but it does carry a ton of risk. With Allen/McBride/Jeanty, Beef can be aggressive on the waiver wire to build his team’s sorely lacking WR crew. Should be interesting to see how this year goes.
Player 456
Best Pick: Jerry Jeudy at $4 was fine, and Tucker Kraft at $3 is great. Nick Chubb for $1 may work out. You really have to hit on those scrubs though.
Worst Pick: I’ve already let my distaste for the studs and scrubs technique so you already know I dislike spending almost 2/3 of your budget on two guys, especially when one of them is coming in with a hammy concern. And I think Davante at $18 was too much for too little.
Overall: Hate the strategy, and not a huge fan of the scrub fillers, nor of DJ Moore and Davante. One injury and this one is done quick. I expect an early exit, but may surprise by going a few weeks into the year. And that could be all you need to rebuild this roster.
Frosty Snow Joke
Best Pick: Another big spender on one guy. But if you’re going to do it, make it Jamarr Chase. I hate the strategy, but I must admit this team did outstanding filling out its starters with low prices. Goff, Warren, Olave, Rhamondre, Downs, were all great value and well balanced floors and ceilings.
Worst Pick: You may have slightly overpaid for Chase.
Overall: Another team I really like. Despite the salary limitations after Chase, this team did a fantastic job building a roster with good values for Kyren, Dak, Davonta and his cheapos are good too. I expect a deep run out of this team, and they may have the ability to save up some FAAB to get the guys who really matter. Well Done.
Hamlet Antoinette
Best Pick: I think Puka at $48 was phenomenal, and I really liked my cheapos. I should, I drafted them.
Worst Pick: A lot of money spent on the iffy calf of Devone Achane, and the QB combo of Justin Fields and Michael Penix is downright scary.
Overall: Of course I like this team, I drafted it. I spent up to have solid starters, and I was able to fill the rest of the roster with OK value. That QB position, though, is really, really scary.
Justin’s Baileys
Best Pick: I liked the “one-tier above scrubs” guys. Mark Andrews. Braelon Allen. Jordan Mason. All potentially great picks. Potentially.
Worst Pick: 84% of the budget spent on one position. And that position is one that is already one with the most variance.
Overall: I’m struggling to see how this team could make it past week 6. If they survive weeks one and two, I expect a lot of this team’s FAAB being thrown at eliminated teams. I like the big three, but it will take a lot of luck and/or a lot of FAAB for this team to last to double digit weeks. Winning it all? I don’t see it.
Railer 13
Best Pick: Tony Pollard for $14 was amazing, and I like the value of Etienne, Allen, Addison, and Allgeier late. Well done.
Worst Pick: Everyone else. Amon Ra for $10-14 more than Nabers, Thomas, and London is way overpriced. And Mahomes/Worthy are boom bust, and one bust week and it could be over.
Overall: I like this team to survive the first couple weeks, but then run into some problems quickly after that.
Wilson
Best Pick: This was autopick, right? They did you well. Hurts/Henry/Chase Brown and Mike Evans gives you a solid starting lineup at good value with a lot of chances to improve through the waiver wire.
Worst Pick: I am not a fan of your scrubs. Like, at all.
Overall: Wilson will have a bit of work to do early in the season on the waiver wire, but a few quality pickups could have this team in contention. I hate that an autodraft might be good.
Omni-Wan Kenobi
Best Pick: I love Kenneth Walker at $22, but only if you can get Charbonnet to back him up. Oh, wait. You did that. Great job.
Worst Pick: Doubling down on injured WRs. Aiyuk and Godwin, while great when healthy, will eat up a much needed roster spot while you wait for them. I will say that the curse of 370 made me ever owning a piece of Saquon an impossibility, let alone spending $69 on him.
Overall: I’m intrigued. This team has a nice balance of floor and ceiling, and a bunch of upside that could help it make a really deep run. That Saquon Barkley scares me, as does a current God awful WR corp though. I honestly am interested in seeing how this works out.
Off with their Cheeseheads
Best Pick: I love Kittle at $6 less than McBride. More importantly, I kinda wish I had done what this team did and spend mid to high single digits on guys I like. Travis Hunter/Matthew Golden/Bo Nix/David Njoku could be great.
Worst Pick: McConkey scares me this year, and at $33 that’s a tough one. Javonte Williams for $7 was overspending too.
Overall: I don’t know what to make of this team. I like them, but I am worried that they won’t have the high ceiling to really contend. I can equally see a long run at the championship, and a relatively early surprise loss.
I hope you enjoyed it. Any feedback is awesome. And best of luck to you all.
Thanks for the writeups, enjoyed reading them. First guillotine league for me so it’ll be interesting to see how much teams change over the season.
