First Annual SDMB Fantasy Football Guillotine League - Cecil’s Chopping Block

We can still behead Justin Bailey if there are no strong objections

I still function!

Is there a reason we changed the waiver time from 2 days to 1 day? It’s probably not a big deal but with how much strategy will go into the waiver wire I’m not sure it makes sense to cut down the time

Yes, because 2 days cuts it really close to Thursday games.

What the hell? Why did I get chopped?

I had 65.82 points and Frosted Glass had 58.52 points.

Oh good, Yahoo chopping the wrong team appears to be a thing.

Looks like we’re all back to normal. Get outta here, Frosty!

This was fun!

I was going to pretend that everything was okay. I was hoping I could wear a @Justin_Bailey disguise next week and no one would notice.

Auction draft is definitely the way to go for this league. Snake would have been fine but I feel like we’re more invested with an Auction since you can get chopped right away.

I look forward to future seasons of shocking people with my first bid and then getting knocked out before the weather gets cold

Handling the FAAB is the part that is fascinating to me. How much should I bid? Should I save most for later to really get the best after people blow their wad early? Who is going for what FAAB?

Should be intrresting …

Yeah, I got no clue how much to bid. Part of me just wants to bid $999 for Chase and be done with this thinking stuff for the rest of the year.

Narrator: He did not bid $999.

Apparently there is an IR spot available, for others who have a star down momentarily. Thank you, George Kittle.

George Kittle comes with an automatic IR slot when you draft him as that’s where he spends the whole season

Good to know I’m not alone.

The player has to be listed as “out” or “IR” by the team, correct?

$1. You should bid $1.

Thanks @Munch. In this dog eat dog/do whatever you can to win world of fantasy football, it’s nice I have someone who will be honest and give me the information I need. Thank heaven I trust you implictly.

::Goes to waiver wire to change bid on Jamarr Chase to $1.

Now I don’t feel so bad.

I’ve got a strategy. I don’t know if it’s a very good strategy. But there’s at least a small bit of logic behind it.

I’m super curious to see how this waiver wire shakes out but yahoo still processes waivers overnight like they did 30 years ago when they had a UNIVAC in a warehouse somewhere working furiously overnight to process waiver claims across a million leagues.

The calculations are so simple that I would think even a desktop PC could do millions of waiver claims processed in like 5 minutes.

They ran, and that was pretty interesting. It managed to ignore the 2 other claims I had for Warren dropping different players (I had prioritized dropping Rashee Rice first).

I’d like to reverse that if there aren’t any objections. Did anyone else with a winning claim get the right drop?

So if I understand you correctly, you submitted a waiver claim for Jaylen Warren, with Rashee Rice as the player to drop if you won the bid. Then you submitted another waiver claim for Warren, with a different player to drop, and then finally another waiver claim for Warren, with Trevor Lawrence as the player to drop. Is that correct?

I won a waiver claim, but I had dropped a player prior to submitting the claim, because I didn’t know what I was doing.
