First day revenue?

Just something I noticed today that I thought I’d share.

I’ve seen at least two people who have registered before they ever made a post.
i.e. they started a thread and that was post number 1. It’s good to see we are still drawing people in.

If anyone’s interested, I’ve charted the progress. I posted it to a free hosting site (may be kinda slow) here.

I just subscribed before making my first post, and I think that a few of my friends will be doing the same over the weekend.

Neat board. Interesting reads. People seem pretty cool. I was referred by a member here. Thanks to that person, by the way!

Welcome!

[channeling Peter Sellers]Are you a Chimpanzee-Minky, Minky?[/channeling Peter Sellers]

Being new to the board, I’m not quite sure what you’re asking me. LOL

It’s a throwaway line from one of the “Pink Panther” movies, where Peter Sellers, as Inspector Clouseau interrogates an organ grinder about his “minky”, with his over-the-top french accent. When the organ grinder professes ignorance about what a minky is, Clousea then describes it as a “chimpanzee-Minky”.

The comment is completely off the wall and out of left field. And strange. And the first thing that popped into my head when I saw your name. So of course I had to use it on you.

Some of us here are like that. Get used to it.

And welcome!

Q.E.D.'s being obscure. This is not a Board question. Go rent a Peter Sellers Pink Panther movie. Or five or six.

We’ll wait.

Oh, heck…

Basically, as a pseudo-spoiler, does your user name refer to Peter Sellers’ badly pronounced pseudo-French “monkey”?

And now Minky will ask who or what Q.E.D. is. Job well done!

I waded in the lake today, Musicat. It’s still kinda cold.

Whoops. Sorry, QTM, I musta seen the “Q” and skipped over the rest of your name. No offense to be confused with Q.E.D., eh?

Naaaah. 35 F degrees at mid-lake. Just the way us Polar Bears like it.

OP? Minky? What OP?

BTW, Controvert! Thanks for the nice graph!

You’re welcome… I’ll probably update it as more data is posted.

The board seems to be doing okay on converting existing members into subscribers. But how is it going on the other half of the equation: what has been the rate of new members joining the board in comparison to the average?

I don’t know at what rate new members are subscribing, but the rate that new members are registering shows a drop-off, but it might be just due to normal variation. Or not.

January 3, 2004 through March 19, 2004 ==> 26.3 new registrations per day.
March 20, 2004 through April 11, 2004 ==> 21.3 new registrations per day.

Great weekend! This morning’s count (0945 CDT):

2,864 Charter Members
2,867 Charter Members + confirmed paid SDSAB
**2,883 ** Charter Members + all SDSAB
Kabbes … the board came through!

Since Ed’s announcement, we’ve had a big spike of subscribers who are also first-time members. See the graphs I posted here. Maybe I should’ve answered here instead of opening a new thread, but I was pretty brain dead when I posted it; sorry.

BTW, we’re at 2,900 CMs exactly (does not include SDSAB) as of 2004/04/13 00:35 a.m.

actually I count 2,901

who are all these people anyway?

This morning’s count (0915 CDT):

2,946 Charter Members
2,949 Charter Members + confirmed paid SDSAB
**2,965 ** Charter Members + all SDSAB

So counting SDSAB, we’ve acheived extreme happiness for Mr. Zotti by surpassing 3000 … well done, all!

So now instead of post count parties we gonna have member count parties ?

I wanna to stand up an’ a be counted too. no fair. :frowning:
