First it was Monopoly, then it was Crayola-When will this massacre end?

Crayola is permanently retiring one of the colors in the 24-count box. On March 31st, one of these colors- red, yellow, blue, brown, orange, green, violet, black, carnation pink, yellow orange, blue green, red violet, red orange, yellow green, blue violet, white, violet red, dandelion, cerulean, apricot, scarlet, green yellow, indigo or gray-will be sent to the cornfield. Which do you think will be “disappeared”?
Which do you want to be “disappeared”?

Hmmm…I’m gonna go with indigo. Blue violet or violet should be close enough. I don’t remember scarlet in my Crayolas. Is it really similar to either red or violet red? Then maybe one of those can go.

I don’t remember dandelion or apricot. They can go. But please, for the love of god, not yellow-green!! :frowning:

Apricot’s been there as long as I remember. “Peach” is the one I remember more in the basic pack, but “apricot” was definitely part of the extended set of 48 or 64. Either was the usual color used for caucasian skin tones.

There are 3 shades of violet. Perhaps one of those?

Orange. But it’s coming right back with a new name. It’s going to be great (again)!

Ghod, I miss Burnt Umbra!

Burnt umber, I think. That’s an old, old one, though, being retired sometime in the 40s. Perhaps you’re conflating raw umber and burnt sienna. (Or you are referring to one of the original colors.)

I hope they’re adding rust.

Cerulean is so 2009.

Apparently, there was a rust in a Canadian metallic back released way back in 1987. Here’s a picture of the colors. I think I like “bluetonium” the best.

When I was a kid, no self-respecting Santa brought less than 64 colors.

What was really needed was a 12-unit supplement box, containing six Sky and six Grass. The bunnies could be variously colored, and use up several colors.

Mucked up that second link. Let’s try again.

Cerulean absolutely should be the sacrificed crayon. I don’t even know off the top of my head what color it is. I’m going to guess some shade of blue, but I don’t know. Hand me a bunch of random crayons with no labels, and tell me to select the cerulean one, and I’m going to pick something bluish. Fuck you, cerulean!

Yeah, I’m not all that clear on what colour cerulean is either (blue-greenish, maybe), so I can’t imagine I’d miss it too much.

Cerulean is useful for skies. Not as light as “sky blue,” though, and it does seem to have a slight tinge of green to it. I find one of the violet-type colors to be the most similar to another color.

Get rid of blue. So damn arrogant.

I vote for RED!

(I guess Crayola wasn’t dumb enough to do this as an easily-gamed Internet poll, huh?)

If you tell me to draw a picture of a dandelion, I’m going to grab a yellow crayon. I’m not even going to bother checking to see if the box contains a crayon called “dandelion”, because I already know what color dandelions are: They’re yellow. If that other crayon isn’t even good for what it’s named after, then what good is it at all?

I always thought the dandelion crayons were supposed to represent what dandelions taste like, but then again, it’s possible that I ate some of the paint off the walls in the rooms where I used crayons.
