That blue bar is wierd. I thought it might be related to post counts, but there is no correlation. Maybe it’s related to ego size?
My browser (IE 6) changes the blue bar size back and forth as I scroll the bars off and on the screen.

My normal browser, Opera, displays the blue bars consistantly. I can confirm that the browser I’m currently using, IE6, changes the bar display when I scroll up and down.

I have the same browser and encounter the same phenomenon, RM Mentock. This blue bar is quite a mystery.
