First time for everything, I guess

I just roasted some peanuts. I goofed and bought a bag of raw peanuts by mistake (both were in green bags - it wasn’t my fault) and I didn’t realize it till I opened the bag and ate one. UGH!

Quick google found instructions for roasting peanuts in the shell: single layer on a pan in a 350 degree oven for 25 minutes, then let them sit for 10 more minutes. YUM!

What mundane firsts can you share here?

At the age of 42, I made my first batch of salsa and took third place in a salsa contest.

Now I can’t remember how I made it…

This is the first time I’ve ever done calc homework and the homework isn’t due until monday.

Scotcho

um that came out wrong. What I was saying is that this is the first time i’ve ever done calc homework days before it was due.

Fleeting genius - how sad…

I remember making cupcakes once that were so amazingly moist, they didn’t need frosting. I was never able to duplicate them again either.

I knew what you meant. On the rare occasions when I finished tasks before the deadline, I was sorta lost - how does one fill the time that would have been used for panic work?

I got the hang of biscuit making at the tender age of 47, after trying for 20 years and getting hockey pucks and doorstops instead of biscuits. I done learned how though. I make some good biscuits now!

And now for the category of I should know better but do it anyway:
I have agreed to host Thanksgiving dinner for 20 people this year. I don’t have to cook it all, but 20 people in my house all afternoon? What was I thinking! :smack:

BTW… fresh, hot, roasted peanuts. mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
