Five bumper stickers commonly seen in your area

Other than local sports (Brewers/Packers) and ones you’d see anywhere else in the country, the only one I can think of is “I CLOSED WOLSKI’S”. It’s on cars, it’s on street signs, it stuck to the side of buildings. I saw one on the bumper at a car that was part of a display at the public museum. One guy made a giant I CLOSED WOLSKI’S sail for his boat.
You really can’t go anywhere in Milwaukee without seeing an I Closed Wolski’s bumper sticker.

  1. Obama-Biden
  2. OBX or variation
  3. Nats curly W
  4. Redskins
  5. My kid is on honor roll

Near St. Louis lots of those oval sticker that say:
13.1
26.2
70.2

I have one that says 200.

Religious Liberty: Live It! Protect It!

Coexist

26.2

I love my (various breeds of dogs)

My kid is an honor student

I see tons and tons of the stick figure families in Ontario, though.

The last time I remember seeing a real bumper sticker was last year; there was a car with a “This car climbed Mt Washington” sticker that sometimes parked at Finch subway station in Toronto.

For the latter, I’m thinking of creating a round one that says 3.14159.

Shit! You beat me to it! This was the first thing I thought of upon seeing the thread!

Have you ever been there? For those who don’t know it’s a dive bar extraordinaire. It is a dive bars dive bar! Until recently it was the only tavern in the city to still have Blatz and Old Milwaukee on tap! Like all of it’s kind in Milwaukee it’s in the middle of a residential neighborhood and there isn’t a goddamned place to park anywhere near it.

If you take the tour at Lakefront Brewery you’ll get free samples plus a coupon for a full beer at Wolskis. Keep your car parked at the brewery and walk over. Otherwise you’ll just drive around the block 50 zillion times looking for a spot that you’ll never find.

Been there? The owners are good friends! Parking is tricky, unless you know the secret, directly across the street is a big open driveway, you can park there. Of course, it only fits about 8 cars. I find myself having to run in and drop stuff off from time to time and I usually just park on the sidewalk (on the left side). It’s easier than trying to find an actual spot when I’m only going to be in there for, literally, 30 seconds.

Actually, the real trick is finding the place. I mean, I know where it is, but trying to get someone there, that’s a PITA. It’s like trying to explain to someone where The Safehouse is.

I want one that says 0.0262.

I see a bunch of those around me too. Also-

coexist (ransom note style)
the HRC = emblem
Quite a few anti-Obama stickers, but none that stand out individually as being especially common

And stick figure families, and the oval-ish ones that say CC, or LBI, or OC (my favorite is the one that says BFD). Oh, and a bunch of large “Keep Christ in Christmas” ones.

Watch out for motorcycles

KW (for Kennywood Park)

N’NAT and Yinzer

And more freaking Steelers bumperstickers than you could imagine

It’s no secret. But it’s always full so it’s useless. Not that I’m going to Wolskis alot. My wifes Great Aunt lived on that street up until 3 years ago. Going over there was always a pain. I freaking hate the east side!

Just about the only sticker I’ve ever put on a car was “Welcome to California. Now go home.”

We all have our problems.

The East Side and Water St/Downtown. Whenever friends want to go out I have to convince them to just go to a place nearby. Why drive all the way downtown to park 4 blocks away and walk when we could just drive a mile and park in the parking lot (and get the same booze for less money).

As for Wolski’s I’d much rather go there during the day when it’s just a few people sitting around as opposed to at night when it’s turns into a jam packed wall to wall college bar.

My dad always goes there (amongst plenty of other days) on New Years day. He brings oysters for everyone. It’s kinda fun to see all the Polar Bear people come in, still wet from jumping in the lake. Keeping in mind that they stay open over night on New Years, the last time I was there that morning, the guy at the table next to me fell off his stool and took me down with him. The person across from me (who got there before me) said ‘yeah, that’s why I moved over here’. Apparently ‘fell of his stool guy’ had been there all night.

If you are willing to go shorter, the work has been done for you.

In no particular order,

  1. Sunoco. (that’s right, just a fucking gas station sign as a bumper sticker)

  2. The three neon green slash marks of Monster Energy drink infamy. (I cannot help but judge these people. In a rather harsh manner too. Im not proud of myself)

  3. NASCAR. (Yeah, no comment.)

That’s all I have off the top of my head.

In my particular part of the Atlanta metro:

Coexist
Political stickers (usually for democrats, though not always)
26.2 stickers
90.1 (radio station)
Those family stickers, in various iterations (zombies, traditional, Apple, etc)

In the broader metro area, you’d get see more Jesus fish, a wider variety of political stickers and so forth. But since I mostly walk/take transit, I see those in my area.

In no particular order:

[ul]
[li]Co-exist[/li][li]Obama 2008/2012 (especially on Subarus and Smart cars/Leafs/Priuses)[/li][li]Stick figure families with pets (I like the zombie ones)[/li][li]Self-congratulatory “I saved a shelter pet” ones[/li][li]Various school stickers (university and otherwise)[/li][li]Patriots/Bruins/Celtics fan stickers[/li][/ul]

You can tell the nutters on either side of the aisle as their cars are papered with bumper stickers in their preferred socio-political flavor.

I’ve had all of them at one point although I’d never put the “This Car Climbed Mt Washington” sticker on my car. I only use the Auto Road to access spring skiing. The MRG sticker isn’t on the car now, it’s on the roof box.

6,288, thank you very much. And a much worse road than Bear Tooth Gap, elevation isn’t the only thing, you know.
