Fixing a flat screen?

A co-worker’s daughter scratched their rather expensive flat-screen tv with a toy this past weekend. Needless to say, her parents are NOT happy.

Anyone know if there’s a possible fix-it for this other than calling their insurance agent?

I don’t know of a fix for the scratches themselves. The insurance probably has deductibles too. I wonder how expensive and how old the TV really is. They are getting awful cheap around my town.

What I would consider investigating is some sort of cover for the screen. Then must make something that could go on the front sold as a glare reducer or protective coating. They make such things for computer screens. I know they would protect from scratches and the transparency is good so they are hardly noticed.

Google “screen protector for TV” to see stuff for under $100.
One example:

What is the screen made of, plastic or glass?

Various kits are available for each to remove scratches (google "polish plastic / glass). The kits will have up to 10,000 grit abrasives (typical “fine” sandpaper is 120-180 grit). These kits are used on photographic lenses and aircraft windows and canopies to remove scratches.
