Flag/pledge/anthem whiners

Oh, so you’re of the mind that Trump’s wall is a simple thing to build. Good. Pass it on.

Seriously, this isn’t a simple issue at all, regardless of what side you come out on. The world is shrinking and is more connected than ever.

That’s the Trump Jobs program. Free uniforms (white ones too!), carry a gun with you wherever you go, a military organization to belong to (so everyone is a vet!), manifest destiny, and on and on!

Right, because BLM isn’t doing enough, SOMEONE has to shine a light on this situation!!!

So some freedom of expression is fit to be banned? That’s pretty intellectually consistent there. The Simone Biles of mental gymnastics.

Waving the flag? Nah. Using it to insult and deride an opponent, based on their ethnicity? The flag was banned for ONE game, based on a history of using it to taunt this specific opponent. Zero problems with that. Be a fuckhead on your own, don’t drag my nation’s flag into your petty bullshit.

You know what we did to guys like that back in the old days? We put 'em in the Hall of Fame, that’s what.

In 1972 autobiography, baseball legend Jackie Robinson reflected on the first game of his first World Series:

This is a joke right?

Minorities should be grateful for the moderate levels of injustice we suffer here because minorities in other countries suffer worse? Should women shut up and feel lucky that we don’t let their husbands beat them with a stick that is thinner than his thumb? We’re America, we’re better than that. Everything about American exceptionalism is based on the fact that we at least try to be better than that.

No, citizen or not, if you are taunted by the flag, then go find a place more to your liking. Now if they are illegal, then yes, they can leave ASAP. But here’s an idea, and a way to have the stunt backfire on the flag-waving students if it was really being done to taunt. Fly the American flag right back at them. That would have worked beautifully.

Yes, a wall is a simple thing to build. We’ve had lots of practice over the millenia. And yet, somehow, no matter how tall or thick the wall is, somehow, someone invariably manages to get through, over, under or around it.

So perhaps, in a world that is more connected than it has ever been, we should not be looking to stone age solutions to solve modern age problems.

You got to learn to read. It’s not love the flag or get the fuck out. It’s if the display of the flag triggers you perhaps you should find a safe space.

Given your long and well-established record of support for really fucking stupid things, this is hardly surprising.

I’m not wearing white after labor day.

If being told you can’t be an asshole bothers you, find a place more to your liking.

As long as we’re telling everyone to GTFO;

If you can’t stand to see someone exercise their right to free expression and their choice whether or not to participate in something, you’re UNAMERICAN and you should find a more fascist state to your liking.

And if we were talking about just a physical structure I might agree with you. But we’re not. It will be a physical structure with the best of todays technology. But even the physical aspect of the wall make sit harder to get by. And given the state of our southern border, that’s a good thing.

Yup.

Absolutely. You have every right to express your opinion, no matter how dumb it is. Just like the player had the right to express his. First amendment, and all that.

Glad you agree. Those kids who were going to be “oh-so-taunted” at their rival school waving the stars and stripes really should look for someplace else not concerned by that little something called freedom of speech.

So is it that waving the American flag that is problematic, or one team taunting other?

Either way, get thee to a safe place apace!

Well, Trump himself has already admitted to the one weakness of the proposed structure. So the best of today’s technology seems to be no match for, “maybe a rope”.

Look. Give it up. Amusing as it would be to see a monument built to Trump’s (and company’s) stupidity, the cost of a few miles of a wall pays for a drone. If he (and you) didn’t have the mental capacity of a mollusk, we’d be discussing the merits of border patrols with actual “best of today’s technology”, not cement.
