I’ve been sporadically watching the show and keeping up on the plot, but I may have missed something. What did he say?
“I am your father.”
When he revealed to his Trickster protege, “I am your father!”
In the comics, there was an utterly terrible (and by Mark Waid, yet! Which is unusual because his Flash run really revitalized the character) story where Barry’s long-lost twin brother was given up for adoption and raised by the Thwane (sp) family, so Eobard is Barry’s long-lost nephew.
Iris is only an “Aunt-In-Law” so to speak–no genetic ancestory.
But that’s based only on one really bad run. Frankly, I’d retcon it, if the pre-52 universe ever comes back.
OK, I may have to watch the full episode for that line.
The other line I’d hoped he would say (but didn’t): “Why… so… serious?”
Which was also the only time John Wesley Shipp phased in the 90s series, as I recall.
I was afraid he’d mention Fava beans and chianti.
Take note of the music when he says it. It’s very imperial.
Wouldn’t be surprised if James Jesse was lying to Trickster #2. (Whose name was Alex Walker. Wouldn’t be surprised if in the first draft the character’s name was Luke.)
If this show were a soap opera, if he weren’t lying, it would then turn out that Alex’s mom was lying to James Jesse and somebody else was his dad.
Axel, not Alex. He’s from the comics.
Yeah. As I remember it, the writers were afraid of making the TV Flash too powerful, but they wanted to appease the comic book fans who were asking to see him do more stunts like vibrating through walls and running over water and up buildings. So they inserted that one scene as a peace offering.
Mark Waid is my favorite contemporary comic book writer (I loved Ruse), but his Cobalt Blue storyline and the introduction of the “speed force” were almost painful to read.
I know Iris would be no direct relation to Eobard in the comics (she’s not even a blood relation to Wally), but I was referring to TV show continuity. We don’t yet know whether Iris will end up with Eddie or Barry, if either.
Or both. Have her marry Eddie and then let him die in the line of duty, and marry Barry afterward. This lets her have a grown, caucasian nephew named Wally from Eddie’s side of the family when they want to add Kid Flash.
That’s way down the road, though. They haven’t even explained how he always has the suit handy despite leaving it at S.T.A.R. Labs all the time.
I thought it was obvious that he just runs there and puts it on.
He has a second version shrunk into a ring.
Maybe Ray Palmer (Atom) will make that for him.
Related, I’ve noticed Barry sometimes gets phone calls from people asking ~“Why aren’t you here yet?” and he replies ~“I’m leaving now!” Then he Flashes over, which you’d think would make people wonder how he gets there so fast.
I’d kinda like him to say “I’ll in transit, be there in five!”, then continue to waste time for 4 minutes and 58 seconds.
Haven’t we already met Wally West, or at least gotten a reference to him, as Iris’s cousin?
We’ve gotten a reference to a cousin from Keystone, but that was Ronnie Raymond, introduced to Iris as Caitlin’s cousin from Keystone.
