I want to take a trip to Bangkok sometime this winter when I’m on break. As a student, getting a cheap flight is far more important then getting a flight on a specific date. But for the life of me, I can’t find an on-line flight-finder cite (e.g., Orbitz, Expedia, etc.) that lets me do flexible date searching for intl. flights. Are there any sites that do this on-line, or do I have to actually interact with another human being?
Travelocity will let you search for the lowest fare available – just go to their homepage and type in your cities and click on “search all dates for best fare” (rather than “I need these specific dates”). It will then show you a list of airlines in increasing price order. Click on the lowest airline, and you’ll get a calendar with the “available” dates highlighted. However – and here’s the annoying part – often the “available” dates are merely theoretically available, and you have to go through the exercise of clicking on them to find out if seats are actually still available for that date. Still, it’s easier than manually putting in dozens of date pairs.
If you’d like, I’ll send you the name of the travel agency I use to travel to Bangkok. The current ticket prices are anywhere from $600 - $800 round trip. They have their fares online, but you have to call them to buy a ticket.
